itchyring Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Realise that similar topics have been discussed but all my searching doesn't answer my questions. Have recently acquired a BIII 8.5 and a 65cm tapered Flexifoil bar (with brake lines to central pully etc) . Presently will use on land but in future maybe in the water also. So...: 1. If the bar was made for the BIII and the crossover kit (really) made for the BII, will the 8.5 turn better with the crossover kit or the bar pulley system. 2. If I use the bar only what sort of slack should the brake lines have. 3. If I use a cross over kit what extra length will I need for the brake lines if added as safety OR what will the length difference be, taking account of crossover kit, bridle lengths and bar leader lengths. Depending on whether I use the bar w/ or w/o crossover will push me either to 27m or 30m (Ozone) lines. Thanks V. Quote
tinsley Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 hello i have a BIII 8.5, with the 65cm bar - however, (and maybe this is just me) i found the bar to slow to manage the kite properly. using handles were great - and i use 40m lines. if you get the line set up right on handles, you should not need to adjust them for the bar. although i haven't used the cross over kit yet, i still think bars are best for water only... Tim186 Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 quite alot of people have been saying that the 65cm bar is less than adequate (sp)for the 8.5 and the 10.5, if i were you i think i would look for a bar in the region of 75cm plus ideally 80cm as it will increase the turning rate. its my understanding that the crossover kit is for 2 line flying only which would mean that you would not have any brake line. i may be wrong but that is my understanding. rasga Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 if you give flexifoil a bell they might be able to tell you when the release of their larger bars are if you are after another bar 70cm and a 80cm coming out Quote
