DaftCookie Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Has anybody tried keyhaven by the shingle bank...? It could be good on a north easterly...you could even kitesurf to hurst castle on a good day (appox 1mile) Quote

coulsonrobert Posted May 3, 2004 Author Report Posted May 3, 2004 Has anybody tried keyhaven by the shingle bank...? It could be good on a north easterly...you could even kitesurf to hurst castle on a good day (appox 1mile) We had a look at Keyhaven a few months back, beach is quite steep and there's not really enough room to launch in a cross shore unless you have a helper on the rocks. When we were there there wasn't much underlying swell but there were still some pretty mean looking dumpy waves at certain stages of the tide. The tides really rip through there......probably not a good bet without a safety boat and lots of experience. Having said that the wind was amazingly smooth, and we got in some great body drags close in on the 7m buster. Quote
DaftCookie Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Coulsonrobert... In your last post concerning keyhaven, you were talking about the beach side...now this is dangerous, and currents around there are very strong especially towards hurst castle. In my post, i was on about kitesurfing on the lakeside if you can call it that (north side of the spit). This side might not be good at low tide (cant remember that much about the place) but at higher tides this place could be sweet in a NE....It needs christening for sure. Cheers DC. Quote
coulsonrobert Posted May 6, 2004 Author Report Posted May 6, 2004 Ahh right, glad to hear your not totally mad! Yeah the lagoon looks pretty good, seemed very shallow to me though. Tell me how it goes if you give it a shot.... Cheers, Rob Quote
