Hi All,
Just thought I'd whack up a post to big up a new outfit at Nyali beach in kenya: Airborne at the Mombasa Beach hotel.
Had a week there and it was awesome; big thanks to Jan, Piers and John for a great week.
The centre's opened up at the Mombasa beach hotel, which is cheaper than the Nyali beach hotel just up the road. We booked with Airtours and it worked really well, saved a few hundred quid over the competition. Food was excellent, and everyone was really nice and friendly.
The centre has new Best Waroos, a selection of boards, and they do IKO instruction for levels 1 and 2.
The kiting was immense; the lagoon in front of the beach allows about a mile of flat water riding with cross shore winds at all but the highest spring tides (some swell gets though then, but not much). At neap tides the sandbar protecting the lagoon is permanently submerged, which means you can ride out over the flat lagoon to the large swells (6-8') outside the bar. At spring tides the sandbar dries out for the bottom few hours of the tide, but you can ride over it when the water comes back up. The lagoon's rideable at all stages of the tide. Winds are generally in the 9m-11m bow kite range.
If you're considering a kiting holiday, it's definately worth checking out.
