oo Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 I am off to Dubai for a week at the start of May, anybody any decent places to get some lessons? Quote
SkintMonkey Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Ohhhh very lucky.... Yeah ive lived there on and off for the past 15 years and to the best of my knowledge i havent even seen a power kite there, let alone a place to take lessons but you never know Dubai has changed very radically over the years. However your guaranteed good winds if your willing to take all your kit. Though i do know that alot of the hotels offer alot of sporting activities and kite surfing might be on the agenda..... Failing that, take a trip to Wild Wadi, ride the Jamerah Scara and get ready for a ball pounding ride....you've been warned. When you ride it you will know what i mean. Have fun Quote
davee Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Not lucky at all!! There are now 180 registered kitesurfers in Dubai and they are limited to one small stretch of beach. OK they are not all out together but it gets pretty crowded! The beach is just up from the famous Burg AL Arab hotel. Get in touch with Jacob for lessons when you get here, he's based in Abu Dhabi but will meet you in Dubai, or alternatively take a trip down to AD it's alot less crowded, his mobile is 050-5626383. Thanks davee, I have also found this one hunting round the web, http://www.kiteboardingholidays.com/school_details.php?SupplierID=699 I am planning on taking at least one kite, though I don't have any water ones at present, is there any restrictions on static flying? davee Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 I'm saying nothing about Fatima Sports, I could get sued for slander! The best bet for you is to get down to the beach and speak to the guys and gals. There are loads of people selling kites - I sell Caution and Flysurfer, you can also get North, Gaastra, Wipika, Takoon, F-one all at good prices, got to say my prices and products are the best though!! A good forum to check out http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/DubaiKiteClub/?yguid=136074758 Cheers Dave Quote
