hulkiebear Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 Hello peeps, I have a 12m Takoon Akooba, and it has a dodgy centre spar bladder! Well, it had a slow puncture, then I fixed it and it had a fast puncture.... then several more tries at fixing it and I finally excepted the advice I was given at the start "get someone who knows what they are doing to fix it!" I asked at my local Kite shop and I was told that, it's not possible to buy single bladders, they come as sets and cost over £120. I'm gonna be selling this kite soon and I don't won't to spend that kind of cash! Does anyone have any dead kites lying around that may have a bladder about 2m in length, or does anyone know where I can get a single spar bladder from? cheers. Quote

www.airforce.uk Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 cygnus sails have a bladder making machine i think? They advatise in kitesurf magazine. Quote
hulkiebear Posted April 7, 2004 Author Report Posted April 7, 2004 I contacted cygnus sails yesterday and they said they don't do bladders or fix them, I also went to 4 kitesurfing shops, two in poole on Tuesday and one in Braunton today and I phoned one in Porthcawl. I was promised a phone call back from all of them, but I'm still waiting! Quote
bladebrother6 Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 If you really cant get any then there are places that will make you custom ones: bull sails in tarifa will make bladders to any size you need, and postage shouldn't be too bad. or if you get really stuck airtime do lots of aftermarket bladders for all sorts of kites, not sure what their www is now (think its airtimekiteboarding.com) Quote
easyonesilver Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 try http://www.surfstore.co.uk you'll get their telephone number from the site. They are a top bunch of guys and keep me in spares. Quote
hulkiebear Posted April 26, 2004 Author Report Posted April 26, 2004 How much did you pay for your Naish Bladder? I have a feeling that my main needs replacing. Bought a Aero 2 centre spar bladder for £34.95 from "UK Kiteboarding Centre" in Braunton. Very helpful chaps they are too, if they don't have it in stock they will order it in! Quote
kiteingcolin Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 well you might find this hard to believe but i bought the centre naish bladder for my takoon at colona watersports, they quoted me either £65 for a full set of bladders for a naish 14mtr or £12 for the centre strut, which will fit most kites out there, you only have to make sure they are to big for the recipient kite, that price included the main bladder, want a set?? ok get your self off to egypt, and pop down to the shop in front of the magawish hotel, ask for bengan the manager, mind you if he sees this the price might rise, I am off to the shop in August, and i might invest in a few sets!! by the way that bladder is still going strong after 15 months, even in the rough hands of adrian Quote
kiteingcolin Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 oops forgot to mention surfstore who supplied 4 bladders for the grand total of £45, mach 2 ones, the smaller ones near the tips, no problems and quick, ask for kev 01740631199, ask him to increase my discount from zero to 10% when you speak to him, Quote
muppetdude1599968590 Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 ive heared the true costs of a bladder run at approx 1 -2 pounds irrespective of size - another case of rip off by main players? be nice to know of a supplier who will custom make them for any size given and be reasonable priced Quote
hulkiebear Posted April 27, 2004 Author Report Posted April 27, 2004 Thanks! I mean thanks for telling me when I originally posted this thread and helping me save a few quid!!! Well to be honest the bladder didn't fit, so I took it back and the bloke at the shop refunded my money! (nice chap!) Then I contacted Takoon and asked where I could get a takoon bladder, a even nicer chap called Beniot at Bicsports said he'd send me one on warranty! Result!!!! :) Quote
