  2. Are you on land or water?
  3. strongly rec surfstore near stockton available surfstore.co.uk wicked Airush kites and huge selection of boards but more important impartial advice, Mike Burt is the man to see.
  4. Parents have been there for Holiday in late summer Sept/Oct said wind was perfect, big windsurfing area and a kite school, loads of massive empty beaches, But the ferry aint cheap see caladonian macbrain for ferry services, kiteshcool will advise on accom or theres a tourist side for BB or cottages
  5. hi mate solid question, Honestly wait till the summer, when the 2004 kit will be selling and the 2003 stuff will be cheaper than it is now. Personally speaking wouldnt pay that much for a kite like the M1 ,Im not sayin it isnt a good kite though, you'll get a better feel for what your doin after the lessons. How about a 2003 Co2 12m it has huge stability and turn but big lift too, Maybe get a second hand kite only, and just buy the Recon system new.loads
  6. no!!! whats wrong with the sea? the waves the tide all part of the ride i hear derwent might be ok but too mant leisure craft and not enough space for my liking
  7. leashes make life easier, but ALLWAYS WEAR A HELMET, in theory we all should, a lot of the time the board can be twanged back to you on the waves, remember sea ater moves, leash or no leash and if your head is just above water..........your fu**ed!! impact vests are useful tools too, i have an Airush Team vest very lightweight and bouyant, Surfstore,Bishopton will advise on helmets also
  8. anyone had experience with extreme holidays, i see they are mega pricey but whats tuition like, and their courses in fuerte? othewise any tips on cheap hot and windy what about florida this time of year?
  9. Try Druridge bay its ok its north of newcastle, Best place in the world is Redcar beach, south of newcastle off the A19 wicked place get yourself there if its windy you'll see the kites

  11. just posted some more pics from allonby in mid september, (just found them on a memory card) just show what a cool sport we have, ps still tryin to sell 12m airush and square one board for £550, (tossers who offer silly money for quality kit need not apply)
  12. amen to bob redcar over SA any day, the chippy is very quiet around this time of year, several amusement arcades with a marks & spencers and pound stretcher in the town for the lass' shopping needs. It is one of the best places in the world to kite, just dont swallow the water. What more could you want??
  13. i have a 12m trio airush and a board perfect for learning on for sale. As your in bristol i can offer you some pointers on the kit and safety stuff email duncansmaclean2@aol.com
  14. flexi make good kites but Cabrinha make the black tip and Airush the lift pro, we all have our favs but these kites stand a mile out from the crowd. and why would you want to fly anything over a 16m? why would you want to fly with a blade iii these days? lei kites are far superior in every possible way
  15. what a day, the winds gusty 10-14 so a bit of a testing day, until a sudden front moves in (i learn later a patch of rain moves off shore and creates a lot of turbulance behind it. Myself and some other guys got caught out) One minute i'm lying in the water ready for a launch next second 5ft in the air!! before i could gather my thoughts i was in the water only to be lifted a second time to about 15 feet and crash down, it happened a 3rd time this time i peaked at 25ft before i pulled the emergency release on the chicken loop now at home nursing brused ribs (impact vest rode up) and and a stiff neck. what a top day!!, not for the faint hearted Thanks to the boffins at Airush for a top piece of kit. Thanks to the guys for the applause when i landed. LESSONS LEARNT so ill pass em on. Learning? take heed never never never go into the water without doing a IKO/BKSA course, they will teach you the essential safety stuff like how to rescue yourself this is an extreme sport. never never fly without impact protection, especiall if your using a board leash, boards have a habit of twanging back on you , i have no leash thank god so i left my board behind watch the weather conditions carefully!!
  16. Colin is a top teacher and a top guy, i went to Leven Beach, fife for a IKO level1 and 2 course and with colin's tuition cracked kiteboarding in 2 days, web site is www.2extremes.co.uk
