npeac Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 a good way is to use a bit of climbing tape (tubular nylon) you can either leave it slack so you cn stand on it, put something inside it to preformthe shape or put some thing on it to make it stiff. i will leave it to your imagination whichis the one for you. dave1986 Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Use a piece of hose-pipe! Thats what im gonna use to make a grab handle on my home made kitesurf board Quote
wingnut1599968614 Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Have succesfully made a bar. All i did was get a 3/4" diameter tube or what ever is comfortable for your grip. Drill a hole at either end all the way through, put a piece of 200kg breaking strain line through the holes to attach to the kite main lines, I then drilled 2 holes through the middle of the bar with pieces of line twice the lngth of the main lines (about) 18 inches) which i attached the De power lines to and tied animal straps on the opposite ends to the end you would attach the kite brake lines to attach them to your wrists. To anchor the bar to my harness i used an old windsurfing leash which windsurfers used for the same job, got some hockey grip tape to pad the bar and it works a treat. to de power the kite all you have to do is let go of the bar it slides up the brake lines that are attached to your wrists letting the main lines go slack. it works a treat the only thing i did wrong was put to weaker line on the main lines but after one hard landing when it broke i up rated the line and it works fine for me and cost 1/3rd of the price. don't forget to put figure of eight knots at the end of your lines on the bar to stop the kite lines slipping off.. (sorry don't mean to sound patronizing saying that.) this is how i did it and it worked for me i hope it does for you good luck. Quote
