Boffy Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 I was wondering if anyone has used or known of anyone using a 4.0m Blade II on a bar? If so what size of bar would be best? What are peoples thoughts? The reason I thought about it was for boarding. Quote
HiAsAKite Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 Yep, 2 lines on about a 50cm bar, used it during the intro bit during my kitesurfing course. Flew ok, but some times needed to really point the bar at the kite to get fast turns, specially when near the edge of the window... This was without any cross-over kit Quote
Ewan Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 Change my 4m to a 2-line bar only last week. Its on a 70cm Stage 2 kiteboarding 2-line bar. And its much better. And being the 4m it doesn't need the cross-over kit. I cut the bridle lines on the bar to about 1.5m tho'. They were about 4m to start with. You can get one from http://www.windthings.co.uk for £35. ewan Quote
blade Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 can you use the bullet bar on the Blade II 4m??? If so, what size would be the best? cheers Blade Quote
RedHotChili1599968600 Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 yup!, the 65cm bar should do the trick, but as other people have already said, you do need to yank it about, and unless you use a big bar (70cm+) it is hard to turn when you have your bar clipped into your harness, so that is something to consider. tonyb Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 Can you get a 4 line bar for a 4.0 blade 2? Im not to sure about fitting cross over kits etc and shortening bridles as im very new to this? How would you use that brakes with a 2 line bar? Quote
tonyb Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 Well, the blade is a 4 line kite, when using a bar is it possible to utilise all for lines or do you just attach the brakes to the main and use 2 lines? if so, how do you brake? (use for land boarding) Quote
Boffy Posted September 1, 2003 Author Report Posted September 1, 2003 I have been a bit confused myself. I have been looking and you can just buy the flexi 65cm set up for £55. But from what everyone has said it would be better on a 70cm bar. So I have found that the bars come with or without a centre hole. I assume the brake lines are joined to a leader and go through the centre or are fixed to a 'depower buckle'(?) Then there are other questions chicken loops, harness lines etc. What is the cheapest way to put a 4m blade 2 on a bar to use with a harness?  Quote
Boffy Posted September 1, 2003 Author Report Posted September 1, 2003 Thanks 4 that hoolyman. I also found this site helpful http://freespace.virgin.net/enri.ght/page16.html Not sure if the pulley arrangement is necessary though. I reckon I'll give it a go. I can get a 70cm bar for £19 a depower buckle for £6 and just need some leader line then off we go!! Am I right? Quote
martin.graham Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 where do you get a bar for 19 quid ?- would like one two, as I just got a 4m blade Quote
Boffy Posted September 8, 2003 Author Report Posted September 8, 2003 Here is a link to the £19 bar I mentioned. It's only sealess Al tube with end pieces. http://www.kiteworld.co.uk/acatalog/Kiteworld_Catalogue_Bump_and_Jump_82.html If u want 2 run the brake lines u could put on a depower buckle if the bar doesn't have a hole. £6 from Traction Kites UK. http://www.tractionkitesuk.co.uk/surfing/surf_access_maui.htm TKUK also has some nice bars. Hope that helps. Quote
