buggy nut Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 My dad showed me this artical in a magzine. It was about how to build a small triangle kite (country life mag or something) and it had 10 facts. One of them was that there was a kite that weighed 3 tons, but this cant be right can it? how would it get up in the air? Quote
windthing2 Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I remember a nasa thing that they used to land an experamental space shuttle called the X- 33 .The foil was some 2,200 sq feet ,controlled by servos . kinda kewl... Rick:cool: Quote
rburton Posted May 25, 2003 Report Posted May 25, 2003 I was there taking video and telemetry for this the real thing. This is a Ted Daughtery design the same as the Quadrifoil X series and the XXtreeme L/S kite series as well as the speed foils that have showed up in South Africa as sub square meter kites such as the speed foil .75m2 speed foil that has clocked well over 100mph plus in moderate winds. Give me a Blade III and I'll be happy! -Rod Quote
Aussiewalrus1599968582 Posted May 25, 2003 Report Posted May 25, 2003 speed foils in south africa?? tell me more Quote
Joelio Posted May 25, 2003 Report Posted May 25, 2003 there ios a point when a kite is no longer a kite, but a parachute, sail or something like that - LOL - those sizes are INSANE!!! Quote
