sandrash Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Have you had to drive miles to get to your favourite buggy beach only to find that there's no wind.Check out http://www.xcweather.co.uk before you leave, it might save you a really frustrating day.And you could get the spare room painted like you promised the wife(personally i'd rather lie about the wind forecast to the wife and go anyway) Quote
mik Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 You ever find that when the weather forecaster says that there will be gusts of reaching up to 30 mph those gusts always seem to miss out the place you think it would be nice to fly youre kite Quote
sandrash Posted January 6, 2003 Author Report Posted January 6, 2003 Hi MIK noticed u are in Belfast which is due west of me,so if u are havin a really good day u could phone me and i'd get same wind as u a couple of hours later save me loads of aggro. Quote
Racinsnake2 Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Hello sandrash. I notice you live in north wales, same here. Do you go kiting with the turbulence crew? If not check out http://www.ukkiting.com and get in touch with them! Rick Quote
mik Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 hi sand rash im having a really good day today so it depends on where you are but i would say it would hit you in the middle of the night and its been going for about 24 hours now so if you can get out tommorow unless its already hit the winds are about 25 mph mabye more Quote

jocook Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 the BBC weather has now added latitude/longitude to their forecasts, so at least you know where the weather station is that gives the current obs on wind.... Quote
sandrash Posted January 8, 2003 Author Report Posted January 8, 2003 HI Racinsnake2 il'l probably be out this weekend cos the tides are low midday not sure where i'm going yet but il'l look out for the white crash helmet and the panicked expression,il'l stick a pic on this so you will know me,mind u its fairly obvious cos i've got MINI wheels on me buggy :D Quote
sandrash Posted January 8, 2003 Author Report Posted January 8, 2003 Hi MIK thanks 4 the wind prediction u were right its been blowin lovely today, unfortunately i gotta go 2 work so missed out, never mind this weekend is forecast 2 b good so will b out.Hows the buggy scene in/around Belfast Quote
mik Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 there's nowhere to buggy in belfast youve got to go to the south of ireland to the big beaches i just use the local sort of dog walking park by the sea the problem with it though is that there is not much room so you cant go out into big winds but its not bad (only recreational flyin in these parks). There's good wind here at the moment and you might get it by the weekend im goin out on saturday but i gotta get kite killers first.Cos i was flyin in one of the biggest winds ive been out in with someone who's never flown in a big wind before (i didnt let him fly) and my killers were made out of bungy rope cos i lost my others and i couldnt pull the brakes cos the wind wouldnt have let me land it so i let go and the bungys flew off the end;s of my hands while me and my friend raced down a 3mile long beach but we got the kite back and i decided to get a new pair of killers.(duh) Quote
