skytiger Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 WARNING, i have done suspended flying with my skytiger hi60, it was a lot of fun. BUT whilst my brother was hovering a fair 15ft up, the 300 lb kite lines snapped. Fortunatly he didn't smack his head down on the ground first. Indeed be careful, as i have heard of people getting badly hurt, just have a look on the net. Quote
tom1599968574 Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 not wishing to say i told you so but...!!! in the last man lifting thread i did say i hoped you were using strong enough lines!!! If you do it again, use at least 700lbs. have a look at that post cos i have put a fair bit on there about how to, email me if you need to know more. wee have done it a lot and not got seriously hurt...yet!!! tom Quote
BigBro Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Tom, This is surely a wind up! Would anyone be foolish enough use 300lb main lines on a Hi60 let alone attempting tethered flight on it???? Quote
tom1599968574 Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 certainly not!! attatched are another pic from that day with the 7.2 and a pic of the big nasa laid out. The one in the corner is 2.2m!! the big one is over 4m deep and over 8m across at its widest!! trying to get hold of some video off my mate. tom Quote
BigBro Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Tom, I think you missed my point! I wasn't questioning wether people do tethered flying I was questioning "skytigers" original post in this thread. Quote
tom1599968574 Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 sorry geez, just read it again, wouldnt have thought you would get the lift out a skytiger?? flying it on 300's in a lite wind would prob be ok, sometimes put my 4.9 on 300 to drop the drag a notch for buggying. They wouldnt last more though, they always snap near the knots. my 25m 300lbs set is now about 18m due to constant resleaving!! as for tethered, yeah, you are 100% right!! They wouldnt last. using 500's, both mains snapped when the kite was about 10ft off the ground, used minimum 700 since!! tom Quote

BigE Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 I'd suggest trying a different NASA and eating less pies!!! Mowahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Quote
high.as.a.kite Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 Seems we have a new entrant in the archive diving contest! Quote
Sand-Yeti Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 Whatever prompted you to resurrect a 9 year old thread BigE? Tethered flying is not from me. I think it's too dodgy. Quote
high.as.a.kite Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 BigE is actually probably allowed this one due to the NASA reference. Unless, of course, he actually went searching for the oldest NASA reference he could find! Just so he could resurrect the thread! Quote
