I presume the 9m will have "12m" printed on it, because otherwise it's just a small kite, when girls actually need a smaller kite which seems to be identical to whatever the bloke's version is?

Honestly, I don't get it. Other than a marketing exercise, what's the difference between a "girl's kite" and a "slightly shorter and lighter bloke's kite"?

Flexi did a "Punk" colour scheme a while back, hot pink and black, I remember it being just as popular with the guys as with the girls, and the "Rasta" wasn't marketed exclusively at Jamaicans.

As the only girl to actually comment on this thread so far...

Sharing a quiver (and cutting the cost) is a key consideration for us - we can't stretch to two sets of kites in similar sizes. If we could, I would definitly be influenced by the looks. I don't necessarily want all pink, but I'd like it to be pretty and for my kite to be easily identified from the beach. We all know that looks are important, I just want differnet things to you (well most of you). Why shouldn't that be taken into consideration when making kites?

My favourite colour schemes for this kite are 2 & 3.

Otherwise, the difference is all in the bar set up - the pressure and reach as you have said. We do get around it with adjustment at the moment.

Girl harnesses are vitally important...

Blast, if you need someone to test the kites, give me a shout!

I dont have the same strength or arm reach. I also have really short legs. You can say that some men or kids also have short arms, but they don't have to deal with lady lumps getting in the way too...

For example, when I let go of the bar, it is always over my board so it takes ages to recover, set myself up again and relaunch. If it was just there, in reach, it would be much easier.

Andy Petula does. :D I cannot understand how a womans kitesurfing demands are any different to a small or slightly built male. But there again; do any of us know how you lot tick. Best add a :D just in case.

as in ARM REACH most bars can be adjusted , so shorten the centre line to required length , then adjust the lines so all the same length when the bar is pulled in (full power)

bar pressure is dependant on kite design

Most bars have adjustable reach?

erm, nope

Ozone - nope

Liquid Force - nope

Mutiny - nope

Airush - nope

Slingshot - nope

RRD - nope

I like option 6! I don't have a boyfriend who kitesurfs so I have all my own quiver which means I can choose girly kit although I agree I like my kites easy to spot in bright colours but not just pink. Definitely a bar for shorter arm lengths too!

If you want any girls to try test them out let me know!!
