kitetramp Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Was flying today when I noticed my chicken loop had cracked a bit. This can't be good?! So I need a new one. Can anyone recommend for the zero 7 carbon bar on a Peter lynn venom 2 or will any do? Want a brand new one so I know it's in good condition Quote
madmanmatt Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 i had the same problem with the peter lynn 07 chicken loop it was caused by the polyurethane drying out. after spending over a 100 pound on chickenloops i brought a ozone megatron loop comes with depower line and this works so much better than the 07 one you can buy them on powerkiteshop think there around 30 quid or so Quote
broraboyan Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 I can recommend , the ozone megatron aswell, fitted on my flexifoil bar, far better than the factory fitted one. Quote
kitetramp Posted September 2, 2013 Author Report Posted September 2, 2013 The megatron it is then. Thanks Quote
broraboyan Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 Get the megatron loop with the line that has the plastic sheath "centre line" it will last alot longer than one without:) Quote
pol Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 Also fitted a megatron to my Zero 7 bar. You lose the ability to spin the leash though if that bothers you. Quote
kitetramp Posted September 2, 2013 Author Report Posted September 2, 2013 Do you mean you lose the ability to spin the bar with the safety leash attached to the chicken loop? Quote
broraboyan Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 No you can still spin the bar but part A and part B have the centre line going through both , its not a problem for me and I've never heard of anyone else having a problem with it .http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/09/03/ma2a8ezu.jpg Quote
pol Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 How have you rigged up the safety leash on yours then broraboyan? You'd need a mini 5th line or something like the stainless ring on the right of your pic. You can spin the bar but the safety leash will get wrapped around the lines. Not a big problem. You would need to make some modifications to the bar set up to allow one line to run through the middle of the Zero 7 bar I think. The normal Zero 7 set up is to release to one of the back lines. If you just swap out the chicken loop and depower line you are left with the normal safety which can no longer be attached to the spinning bit on the Zero 7 chicken loop. It has a horrible short leash also so you need to attach it to the spreader bar. Quote
broraboyan Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 The hole on the flexifoil bar is big enough to take the two lines no problem it is the flexifoil 5th line. Quote
pol Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 The hole on the flexifoil bar is big enough to take the two lines no problem it is the flexifoil 5th line. Ok, well it is different on a Zero 7 bar but still a good chicken loop replacement. Quote
kitetramp Posted September 3, 2013 Author Report Posted September 3, 2013 chicken loop has arrived, thanks for the advice folks. i think if i want to be able to spin the bar entirely tangle free i will need to just make it so that it flags off to a front line (one of the two in the middle off the de-power line) I know someone else has done this on here. And reckon there's just enough room on the cabon bar to have an extension of one of the front lines going through it with the de-power line. in the meantime i think i can make do. anyone know where i can get these bits and bobs from, like a stainless steel o ring?
