Blast Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 What happened to the other thread? I really can't see how 5mm gloves are gonna be do-able, your forearms will be pumped! unless you've been training them? Quote
Andy-j Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 so this is your 4th pair of gloves?? How long have you been kiting?? I've been kiting about 5 years and im still on my 2nd pair of gloves.. Quote
paulie_amoose Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 your forearms will be pumped! unless you've been training them? you would had to have gripped alot of pole to kite in 5mm gloves.. Quote
Andy C Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 My Xcel Bamboo 3 finger gloves are 5mm and they're fine to kite in, neoprene is soft & easily flexed. Only use them in mid-winter but no problems gripping the bar. Much better than trying to when you're in agony from the cold. Quote

Drylock, glued and blindstiched. Was going to take a punt on the billabong claws but they don't look as robust as the Xcel's. Hopefully now I will not have to dip my fingers in paraffin and take a blow torch to them! Quote
Andy C Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 I seem to remember them being about £30 or just under...hope you didnae get ripped off there...! Quote
creed Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 I seem to remember them being about £30 or just under...hope you didnae get ripped off there...! I did look around and would you believe that was the cheapest I could find! Tbh I would of paid more after the pain of my last session. These is the ones: Xcel 5mm 3 Finger Drylock Mitt (Black) 2013 / M Quote
Andy C Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 They're posher than mine! These are the ones I have - yours are probably even warmer again. Xcel Wetsuits Infiniti 3 finger 5mm Wetsuit Gloves - £33.95 : Surf Shop, Surfboards, Xcel Wetsuits, Surfing Hardware Online. Quote
Andy C Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 To be fair the amount we spend on kit another £46 is well worth it for the pain it saves. Before I got them I seriously thought about giving mid-winter sessions a miss after the utter agony of completely numb hands warming up again. Well impressed with all of the Xcel range, I changed from a custom Snugg wetsuit to an Xcel recently and it's warmer and quite a bit cheaper. Quote
creed Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 Like wise, I got an Xcel hooded rashie for xmas and it has made a massive difference. A friend has an xcel suit and raves about it. They look the part as well. I'll get one next winter. That's if I don't cave before hand like! I could spend 200+ on a night out. Now I've knocked all that on the head £46 was a cheap night Quote
