mick Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Never, ever, never start a thread about bars on FB kites. If you do, I might have to have you ternimated. ok mick will/wont do, Go on sparky. Just for a laugh do it but you have to mention the 2 magic words. Quote
The Geoff Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 What? How much?I have 2 depowers. A 12 and a 9. The 12 cost £200 and the 9 cost £150. There are many good depowers on here for a tad more than a tenth of what you quoted. Frenzys, Manta, HQs and PLs cost a fraction of the FlySurfer price you quoted. Give me £500, I'll kit you out with 2 depowers. They won't be 2012 but they'll do you ok. Do you really think that you'll benefit by spending upward of £2000 grand. You're right, but the market has to have a certain amount of buying-new going on to sustain the manufacturers. The bigger the second hand market, the fewer the manufacturers, and the ones that remain aren't necessarily the ones that make the best kites, but the ones that are the most financially viable. Buying new funds R&D, buying second hand doesn't, so if we all want the best kites we should buy new. Quote
The Geoff Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Link. av a looksy. >>>> One of my favourite kiting vids ever, nobody else kites like that. Quote
mick Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Geoff, I'm not saying we shouldn't buy new of course but if a kiter can't afford 1K for a new kite, should he save up or buy 2nd hand? There are always going to be the guys who will only buy new and they will for only one reason. Because they can. Personally, I cannot justify that sort of outlay being married with young children. Outlay for one child this year. £2300 car insurance without uni expenses. Kiting either is or isnt an expensive hobby. Its what we make it but when he quoted £2000K, I had to show the other end.
