  3. mick dont really follow you,iam a big boy in respect to sarcasm,i too wont suffer fools and will call it like it is,as for kiting iam a newbie and dont pretend other wise,i have searched endless pages on the web for info,i took advise and purchased my kit from a reputal dealer, wot else can i do?join a forum for help
  4. ok so i may have started a debate here, saw a chap ont web, cory jensen,he advised to learn to feel where the kite was by pressure on the handles,as mounting the board while trying hold especially a smaller kite at 12 oclock can be hard when learning,i need to join a club really i figure i will pick it up quicker, thanx for all your help,no worries on the sarcasm iam a big boy
  5. theres is one other reason i would prefere to stick with FB kites is the amount of money i would have on a field with a de power kite usually on my own,iam always looking out for kite thiefs! and yes i know i should kite with someone else but they are few and far between around my way
  6. i figured that that i would stick with FB until it became natural, thanks for re-enforcing that for me,also i do like the fact that when shit hits the fan i can let go the handles and not worry about been hooked into a harness,i do agree i need to learn to control the kite without looking at it,especially at 12 oclock while mounting the board
  7. as long as i know iam not doing anything differant to the majority of you guys, carl i have watched loads of your basic getting going type vids and they have helped me loads, but the really annoying thing is you make it look so easy LOL
  8. he he, add a poll mate,i can only just work a pc,could anyone help out the pc nob
  9. hy guys,as a newbie to kite landboarding,i often wonder if iam using the right gear,i have 3 kites all FB from two to five metres,i dont want to free style or set speed records, iam more than happy to try and cross a field in one piece and attempt to get back,so i think the kit i have is ok or is it, so my question is does everyone use depower or do people say with FB foils,i know the plus's of depower and the cost's,depower kites make sense when ability allows, but not everyone has carl the bullets talent, Whats the ratio of kite use FB/depower in lanboarding
  10. cheers buddy, looks like thats how they are made then, will do as you did and washer up the soft foam so the bolt clamps the handle down solid, still think its moulded backwards, still for a tenner what do you expect
  11. hy guys,so for christmas as a stocking filler i got a scrub board handle for my scrub board, nice i thought, then the hassle started, the supplied screws are not as in the picture,ok i thought il get some longer stainless steel ones,so sorted ready to fit,but whats this i hear myself say,the handle is moulded in two differant compounds, difficult to explain or photo,it has a harder resin strip and the upper half of the handle is soft foam, the bolts heads sink into the foam and pull down onto harder resin section when tightened, this is how the handle should be right? well my handle is soft on the lower section that sits against the board and hard resin on the upper section, the bit iam going to hit my head on,it looks to me to have been moulded backwards, can some one please advise me correctly before it becomes bin fodder nick:mad::mad:
  12. yeah carl working on a better field, going tomorrow after work hopefully it will be a bit better, its a bit more open although its tree lined around the perimiter but hopefully its big enough for some smoother air, regarding safety, ive learnt to let the handles pull out of my hands when over powered by a gust, but yeah know what your getting at,thanks for the heads up
  13. glad it wasnt just me then, got a wind metre and i reckon its the best bit of kit ever, you can really see wot the wind is doing,ok at ground level, hopefully got another venue to try locally, not always easy to find an open space with mown grass and no wind obstructions LOL
  14. hi guys,so a new kite land boarder, out yesterday with a 2.2 FB as it was gusting to 20 mph but lulling to near 0 mph at times, suspect a poor venue choice but i figured i would a few practices runs on the board,oh yeah between the rain showers as well, did manage two runs but it was just hard work, struggled at times to keep the kite inflated at the zenith while mounting the board,it just luffed and fell out of the sky, then in flash i was scudding down the field after getting out of the bindings, still kept the misses laughing,it was one of the thoses days when i questioned myself, wot the h£ll am i doing i know i can do it as i have some success in the past nick
  15. yamaha fz6 2007,with some trick mods, rearsets, adjustable levers, screen, bellypan, tried to post a pic but it seems i need to post some kind of url or summit,
  16. Never, ever, never start a thread about bars on FB kites. If you do, I might have to have you ternimated. ok mick will/wont do,
  17. yeah ok,my problem is i go looking at new stuff, forget theres good stuff to be had on here, not very good with forums,,many thanks will get into summer and see how far i get with my current kit,BTW even though i posted this thread iam not unhappy with my current kit and the bit of kite boarding ive done has been rewarding nick
  18. its not the not wanting a depower kite or two its the fact iam only six months into the sport,to spend upwards of £2000 grand on a pair of depowers is just foolish atm,ive got about £500 quid in the sport upto now and iam ready for summer, sure there will be gusty days and times when i cant board, but thats no different to owning a sportsbike and it pissing it down with rain for the last month,i take on board the advice from you all and maybe after a good summer i'll be posting back with which depower to get took my 3.3 to blackpool last nov but never flew it,went up blackpool tower took some guts to walk on the glass floor LOL nick
  19. thanks for all your views guys,so for now i know i can stick with what ive got and as long as it keeps me smiling then thats ok,when i feel the urge/need to change i'll re-address the funds thanks for your imputs nick
  20. hy guys,as the title says do i really need a depower kite, got into power kites last year on holiday bought a cheap 2 metre 2 line and was hooked, then got a pkd buster soulfy 3.3 then a scrub psycho board then a soulfly 2.2 and lastly a vintage pkd 5.5,not really been out much as winter is well winter, what iam getting at is i just want to cruise on my board maybe learn a few ground tricks, slides, toe and heel side runs and just enjoy my kit without the mega cost is anyone else feel as i do or does everyone eventually go to depower at 40 years old i know my limits and really dont want to get hurt, having said that i also ride a sportsbike quiet fast but have been doing so for a while and am well used to big motorbikes nick
  21. hy mate,i have just started kite boarding,i use three fixed bridle kites on handles from 2 metres to five metres depending on wind speed,no harness as a beginner needs to get out of trouble fast, use kite killers to kill the power quickly, get a helmet and at least some knee pads, order kite landboard progression beginner dvd and go have some fun,you will be suprised how quickly you get going, however theres loads to learn and a good technique doesnt come overnight
  22. just started boarding myself and jumps/tricks seem almost impossible at the moment,i have a scrub psycho board and at six kilo's its between a cheap and expensive board, but i couldnt imagine doing tricks on it,iam having all on getting across a field in one piece LOL,i don my cap to all that can ride and do tricks on these boards while been dragged by a kite, sorry for not adding any useful info on the subject, all i can add is my psycho seems reliable, steers where i lean and the flex cussion's my sore arthretic knee's
  23. Got the 2.2 buster, wow its so small, looks windy this weekend so hopefully i can at least static fly it,getting out with a forum member on sat hopefully get some time on the board, havent ridden in a month as the winds been dead at the weekends nick
  24. after a lot of thought iam going to go with a buster 2.2 just becouse i know exactly wot iam getting, which wil be a kite that flies and behaves as per the 3.3,as batz said i could get a smaller kite that produces as much pull or behaves totally differant, all i need atm is consistancy nick
