lazarus Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 yeah i reckon i could get real nerdy over RC helichoppers!! must be brutal when you crash em though. Can be very brutal in a heavy crash. if you loose interest in stuff quickly then helicopters probably aren for you. it a real skill to fly them (hence i now fly planes instead). planes a much eisier to get to grips with and great fun to strap cameras to. about half way through this video is aome footage shot from one of my planes (about a £50 airframe with every thing but radio and batteries) on a border line wind day for kites and aeroplanes Ozone Landkites > News > Appo video >> Relax, Take it Easy fun hobby but i'm not going to lie and tell you it will be cheap, just that you dont' have to spend silly money on it. Sir Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 I took up sea fishing just before christmas. Not too expensive to start, couple of rods £30, couple of reels £30 and then your tackle. A good way to kill a few hours on a beach and take in the fresh air and just sit and enjoy. Plus you get the benefit of maybe catching something to eat. We've been living off bass the last few months :-) Quote
Sammy1599968740 Posted May 20, 2011 Author Report Posted May 20, 2011 Fishing is something i will never, ever take up. we really shouldnt be eating fish. There'll be none left in 40 years. Please throw back the small ones. Quote
LHF-scottishrep Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 But fish tastes good! Just need sustainable breeds! Mmmm Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk Quote
Sammy1599968740 Posted May 20, 2011 Author Report Posted May 20, 2011 there is no such thing as a sustainable fish!! Quote
Sir Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 Fishing is something i will never, ever take up. we really shouldnt be eating fish. There'll be none left in 40 years. Please throw back the small ones. Thank you for your input. I throw back 99% of what I catch. Even the ones that are of a keepable size according to the size limits I'd rather eat a fish that I'd caught than a mass caught one any day. Quote
zerogee Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 This vector thrust eagle kite looks cool, but pricy. It has no control surfaces like RC planes do. The miniature servos change the tiny motors direction. It can glide with the power turned off, but the power needs to be on for it to turn. Quote
Antigrav Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 I'm hoping to get into board building this summer as well as building some more sliders for when the wind does blow. Wanna come up with some nifty anchoring designs for changing tides. A couple of mates found a good guide for building a cheap miniramp, think it cost them about £100 to build and after that you can session it to your hearts content, I really wanna make one but it's just whether you've got a place to put it! Sand-Yeti Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 Just walking, hiking, fell walking, are a cheap alternative, just need legs . Great alternative Hammer-n-saw. I know there are some great walks in Yorkshire, having stayed in Settle on many occasions. Need good boots, a rucksack for picnic, drinks & of course waterproofs. Yes, I agree, legs are useful too.. Beancapooer Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Yep can't beat a good hyke although apart from rc aircraft have to say a good mountain bike with all the mountains and valleys around me would be great but with a baby and toddler lucky really keeping the hobbies I have. With the winds recently thou have to admit nothings had a lookin on the kite and atb and bug. Quote
mick Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Agree on the geocaching but I took another one up. Don't know if its been mentioned before. Radio control helicopters. I started with one. Now I've got 6 and I am sh1t hot at repairing them. This is probably the hardest thing I've ever tried to learn. Tried being the word. In truth my only suggestion regarding helicopters is DON'T. Get a flipping boat. Quote
mick Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Just waking, hiking, fell walking, are a cheap alternative, just need legs . Just spotted this one. Not sure if he missed an 'n' or a 'l' out. Either way, 2 good no wind pastimes. Works for me. Quote
Beancapooer Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Nice footage Lazarus. Looking to air some of my gliders off for a outing in a fortnight. Here you go a mate flying on our local slope. ( rc gliders although love to see a speed 3 going off it. Serious hangtime ) Quote
