alec saunders Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 Hi, I am not new to kiting but previously i just stood still and jumped. I have recently decided to try landboarding....its going great but i still have a few questions. I find it far easier to go left foot foward and facing the kite, no problem in one direction but what about the other direction? Do you simply pilot the kite to the other side and go off right foot foward or are you meant to turn round and go left foot forward? When i do this you cant face the kite, so im not sure what to do!! Thanks alot Quote
Batz Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 Bi directional pal, go one way then back the other to start! Facing the same way. Quote
ViralEye Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 when you come to the end of your run i suppose you could always turn your board around so your backwards to the kite then pop a 180 jump, or when you get to the end of your run go to zenith to slow the kite, ten direct it the other way so our always facing the kite Quote

LOL. I think it's best to keep it simple! Quote

ViralEye Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 lol, ok. just stop and go the other way :-) Quote
Cyprino Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 lol, ok. just stop and go the other way :-) Spot on You'll learn to get your balance sorted when travelling the opposite way, the trick is to balance against the pull of the kite! Quote
PurpleMonkey Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 lol, ok. just stop and go the other way :-) just ride upwind until you slow to a virtual stop, redirect kite, then ride off downwind the other way and carve upwind. then learn to slide heel to heel, carving heel to toe then finally carving toe to heel. Guess how far i have progressed.............yup stop n go other way:( Quote
plummet Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 hey bro. You are a natural footer. which means you feel better with your left foot in the front. it'l be the same if you surf, skateboard, snowboard. with landboarding you go fowards and back wards. So natural and goofy. you just need to get used to riding goofy. it will feel wrong at first but after a while you will forget which is your bad side. Hint. Hold more power lean back and drift. In the drifting powered position the goofy natural foot thing doesn't seem to matter so much. PS riding heal side, facing the kite is standard, when you get better you can also ride Toe side facing away from the kite. Quote
alec saunders Posted May 16, 2011 Author Report Posted May 16, 2011 Thanks alot everyone, really helpfull!!! Quote
bash1599968729 Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 hi mate, not sure if this is true or not but from your original post sounds to me like you have been going downwind not cross wind(maybe wrong though) if this is the case then yes going the other way is going to be near impossible. we go beam reach(cross wind) hence why its bi directional. and all the above comments are spot on. quick question to check do you have a long walk back to were you set up? if yes you are going down wind if no then ignore me! alec saunders Posted May 17, 2011 Author Report Posted May 17, 2011 ah no bash, im going cross wind.....thanks for the reply though. Does anyone have any idea what psi my board tyres should be pumped up to? Thanks again Quote

PurpleMonkey Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 ah no bash, im going cross wind.....thanks for the reply though. Does anyone have any idea what psi my board tyres should be pumped up to? Thanks again says inflate to 50psi on my mbs tyres Quote
KciN Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 mine goes up to 50psi, but mine are mostly kept at 10psi maybe more if cruising a lot, rule of thumb, lighter pressure gives more surface area = better on damp softish sand/grass even higher pressure for speed basically Quote
