James.halliwell Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Hi all, Just after a little advise, getting a landboard soon and just wondering if i have the right kites, i have a beamer IV 4meter and a Blade V6.5 meter Looking on youtube it looks like alot of people have the kind of kite that kitesufers use or depower? not ever ventured this side been a recreational flyer for a while and want to take the next step Cheer Quote
slide Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 its a good idea to fly blades or any fixed bridle kite on handles to learn landboarding , and like a lot do, venture toward depower later as you kiting skills/landboarding skills improve .....i've seen many turn up at my local with a second hand depower off ebay and try to fly it with no idea much how to kite , let alone understanding depower for fixed bridles harnessed in, on a captive roller setup is a very good way Quote
heres jonny Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 learn to fly with your fixed bridles on the board, so exciting and great fun to learn move onto depower if you wish once youve got the grips of landboarding and the handle of kite positioning and kite control whilst on the landboard... positive lift Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 I agree Flying with handles is easier just take it easy with the blade could rip you off the ground and that aint nice if you ever go depower then start with an Ozone access cant go wrong with these little beauties Quote
James.halliwell Posted October 27, 2010 Author Report Posted October 27, 2010 Many thanks, Sounds like i should be ok with the kites i have, my start off with the beamer the blade can be a little unpredictable Quote
catdoo Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Hi James, i've recently took up land boarding using a 3m Hornet and agree with the previous comments. Its got all the power i need at the moment and can easily pull me off when in gusty conditions. The only downer is its not so powerful in lighter winds were your 4m would probably have that advantage. Hope you enjoy learning the curve as much as i am. Quote
mattemus Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 ive just got myself a scrub psycho and i own a 4m beamer IV now gota learn to fly and ride together ne tips, vids etc would b great Quote
waZki Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Just like above learn on fixed bridles and then get Peter Lynn depower, nice and safe kite... Good for quick progress Quote
plummet Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 yeah learn on the Fixed bridles. when you feel the kite is limiting your progression look at depower kites. Quote
LABen2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 ive just got myself a scrub psycho and i own a 4m beamer IV now gota learn to fly and ride together ne tips, vids etc would b great Here's a video of me with my Scrub Flexideck and 4m Beamer IV for the very last time before I sold it! Batz Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Bloody hell, thats low for a 3m. I struggled to learn on a 3m Flow, jumped onto a 4 hornet and got going, jumped up to a 6m and was better, then went back to my blades. I fly my 7.2 on the board happily now most of the time, if i can hold it static it's bang on for the board! Quote
LABen2010 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I'd be suprised if you get moving in 8mph winds with a 3m! My 4m beamer would need at least 12-15mph before I could start moving properly. Only tried using a 3m in high winds so that it was powered enough to be able to lean back against the kite. Anything less than 18mph and it seemed far too unstable as I wasn't able to get in the right stance. I'd definitely recommend using a 4m or above as you will find it more controllable once you are moving. Quote
