So I finally got to go out out and have a bash on these puppies today - they've been in progress for quite a while now.

All I can say is :D:D:D Such a great feeling, will be a bit of a learning curve - but I can't wait.

Was just on the 3.4 Zebra today and it was enough to get rolling at my local flying spot and get used to the sensation. Fun, fun, fun despite looking fairly unco :P

Spartan, if you lurking, might have to catch up with you soon for some pointers. Turning was probably the hardest. :crazypilot:

Good to see them up and running, I take it the alignment issues are all fixed ?

Will come out for a skating session at some stage, busy this weekend, off to falls creek to try my snow kites, now that seasons closed will get a free run without the downhillers. ( accommodation is already paid so going regardless of conditions)

My package hasn't arrived in Australia yet, will go out once it's here, can't see me getting it this week, next hopefully.

Did you just use a normal inline skate boot?

Hey mate, yes they are a normal inline boot. The spacers are made from a combination of aluminium tube (cut to length with tube cutter) and the bearing holders/spacers from inside the original rollerblade wheels. They weigh 3.4kgs each - which is comparable to Spartans original build. I don't have slime or extra rubber in my wheels (yet). Im looking for some wetsuit-type booties that I can wear to slip in and out of the skates with and still walk around without getting socks or bare feet wet/dirty. This will also help with filling out the boot due to recommendations of using a boot that's a few sizes bigger than your shoe size. Anyone know where I could get said booties?

Hiya Clive, yes the alignment is all (mostly) sorted. The inside spacers were too long, so the inside rail was sitting too far away from the inside of my feet. This meant that they kept wanting to lean to the outer side and put me off balance  so I shortened the inner rail by adding half of the inner spacer to the outer and now all good. Still takes a bit to find your balance though, but that's the nature of the game I guess :)

Have fun at the snow, mate.

Re the inner booties, last week we ordered our ski gear from ajays just up the road from you. The ski boots have inner booties, I'm sure they are replaceable so you must be able to buy them, pop in and see how you go, the guy we spoke to (6 ft tall with Ginger goatee) was super helpful plus he's a shoe specialist so will definitely point you in the right direction, take your skates with you.

My skates still haven't hit the customs here, I get stuff from the USA to my door in 6 days, DHL Germany hasn't managed to get it to the country in the same time. Let you know when they land, don't get too good with them or I wont be able to keep up with you.

These ones norm http://www.xskating.com/Powerslide-XC-P ... ::495.html

Trawled through the skate section for info, Spartan has a set from the same brand, so they do work, I'm not planning on the jumping he does though

I did try B12's landboard, plus had a quick fit of his skates a while back, you do feel awful high on his skates so I went for these with a lower centre of gravity, plus it's made as an off season practice for to xcountry skis which I'm familiar with

SSSShhhhhh! Don't tell the missus, but I scored some Purrrfect bootie(s) at Anaconda today. They slip right in and out of the boot :D

They're gonna be great for running around the launch area, readying the kite - before locking in to the skates :crazypilot:

My kite skates have finally landed in Australia ( in customs at the moment)

For those interested, I purchased them on 21st September they were posted on the 24th (Monday) fair enough as company not open weekends

Arrived here on the 15th October that's 21 days and 10.5 hrs ( give or take with world times)

distance travelled from Frankfurt to Melbourne 15886 km

That's an average of approximately 31 km per hr

A horse gallops at 40-48 kmhr

The pony express was quicker than DHL express.......... Go figure.

Good stuff Mr T! I'm in Sydney this weekend from Friday to monday, so even if the pony expressed them to you by then, I'm out. Keen to go for a decent run with the skates tho :D maybe next weekend if the wind is right. At least you can get a feel using poles to start with, ey.

Nice Clive,

It's day light savings, so some opportunity to try them out after work, I know I would. :D

and another thing i can never do is use inline skates :P - not unless i customize some old skate shoes... size 15/16 shoes are such a bitch to find... let alone a size 17/18 skate boot...
