smudge837 Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 A quick line to say thankyou. I was down Ainsdale today, my first time with an inflatable (well that's what i told the missus.) trying to get my Airush Flow 14 in the air. i pumped it up like i had been told, very cautious not to blow a bladder by over pumping. Had my eldest lad and missus on hold and launch drills. All ready to go the kite just would not get off the ground. i spent a good 10 mins trying to figure if it was rear lines too long/ short, or just me. So a guy who has just come off the water walks over, spends 5 mins showing me the score and informs me, (in a very polite way) that the leading edge is under inflated. so we jumped on the pump for a few more. and bingo up she goes. So i would just like to thanks to the more experienced out there for taking 5 mins and sharing with the newbie. I was not going out in the water, just wanted to put it up and see how different from my other foil type kites. i saw another thread on here, about people giving advice. All i can say is thanks, i was close to giving up and he turned it round real quick. i will be taking proper lesson's next week, just nice to have a free play now and again. cheers smudge:D Quote
mick Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 TBH Smudge, I think that you'll find the KS community very obliging. I'm only a noob but I'm surprised how many other guys will jump up to launch and land you. In truth, by doing so, we ensure that we are all safe and the general public don't get clobbered by a loose kite. Protecting our environment. Quote
Notyetnamed Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 Couldn't agree more, It's just went someone E.G mixes a line up in someway or underenflates or doesn't inflate properly that went they launch they have limited or no control it's only a matter of seconds before that person will moe someone down and thats the kite spot banned. Yeah, I agree, the KS community is definitely very helpful, and IMHO surprisingly welcoming to newcomers. Let us newcomers remember that when we get better, and don't forget to give some time to someone we see struggling.... Quote
Jay586 Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 I'm still immensely grateful to the guys who legged it at top speed out of a car park to catch my loose kite before it hit rocks or the road, they even caught it right and I was so relieved, on my first trip out. What goes around, comes around and so I will always help someone. Very windy day and it had been picked up, even with a lot of sand on it. Lesson learned. Quote
