high.as.a.kite Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 I know quite a few people had a go on my recumbent bike while it was at Wallop. I've just been doing some checking and realised that the figures I was giving out were WRONG! The bike (KMX Karts Typhoon) is £740! And the motor system (All Products) is £1080!!!!! I've now got to check my contents insurance to make sure that it is covered! Quote
popeyethewelder Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Brilliant piece of kit, I loved having a go Quote
the_lone_wolf Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Jesus H... Do they do a discount if you only buy two wheels and tyres? That's all I need... Quote
Zotty Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 great toys.. i bought my lad one of the smaller kmx's about 6 years ago and he got about 3 years of hard abuse out of it ( with me rebuilding it a few times). i also had an adults one on loan for a month or so. we found the steering linkage wasnt up to the job and broke or came apart if ridden hard. and the front wheel bearings very quickly wore out.. i presume they have moved along with these 'niggles' over the last few years.. other down side is other vehicles if ridden on of the road.. they just dont see you .. great toys tho!! high.as.a.kite Posted June 4, 2010 Author Report Posted June 4, 2010 They do a great discount if you do about 5 years of adhoc IT support and consultancy for them! And that's why I had the prices all wrong! I mean for £1800 I'd have bought a 15m Speed 3 Delux! Quote
Zippy Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Blimey Baz I thought it was pretty dear with the prices you quoted at Wallop. But like Carl I was very impressed with it too. Thanks for letting me have a go. I think I will stick to two wheels though as I cant imagine being a couple inches from the ground with all the BIG vehicles on the road these days. Was definitely the right tool for the job at Wallop though. Lovely machine. Thanks Quote
Morgan Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 have seen a few in my area, with the amount of near misses i've had with cars not seeing e upright, I dont think I would ride one on the road your just asking to be run over by a lorry. Quote
Afro1599968737 Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 i used to play with one where the seat was a hammock that was linked to the single front wheel... you steered by swinging your arse from side to side they are good fun, but not very practical Quote

Morgan, the reason you've seen quite a few is cos the guy who designed them lives and works just outside Portsmouth, and their office is right next to Fratton Park. If I take it out on the road it's normally with a huge whip aerial flag with flashing LEDs attached. But yeah, it is a bit scary on the road. Quote

Baz, It was great fun on the grass, but I think you need a light set up like this, to get me on it with traffic .................... [video=youtube;3-EDJj-gu2Q] I think 'Amy's' would give best effect Quote
