tsp13 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 I have got a rip on one of the struts of my 08 f one revolt. I'm not sure how it got there as it is on the wrong side of the kite to get snagged on anything, the only thing I can think is that the strut has bent and the mattrial on the strut has streched and ripped. The strut seem to not hold it's shape quite right now the rip is there. The plastic part of the strut inside is all fine and inflates no problem. See some pics at the bottem. Any one else had a problem like this? Whats the best way to repair it? Will a repair patch hold it? http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww28/plester300/TSP06914copy.jpg http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww28/plester300/TSP06912.jpg http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww28/plester300/TSO06911.jpg Thanks, Quote

POT BELLY Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Ouch! Is that roughly where you fold the kite when packing away? If so that's pretty poor quality. Quote
tsp13 Posted April 21, 2010 Author Report Posted April 21, 2010 Ouch! Is that roughly where you fold the kite when packing away? If so that's pretty poor quality. I think ur right, thats probs about where I fold the kite I normaly fold it in half (wing tip to wing tip), roll the kite up and then fold it into 3. Any body got any neat ways of folding it up cos I'm pretty short on space so just rolling it won't do it. Quote
tsp13 Posted April 21, 2010 Author Report Posted April 21, 2010 Just looked throught some kite manules and have found one in a ozone manual which looks like it will work as with this method the struts only get folded in on to the kite never out, so hopefuly they won't stretch but thats still not going to fix my hole http://downloads.flyozone.com/kitesurf/downloads/2009/09_Instinct_Manual_Lo.pdf page 19 if ur interested Quote
Dunc Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 The way i was taught to pack down a kite was to roll from each wing tip to the centre then you fold starting at the trailing edge so the kite is folded in to thirds. Atleast that way everything is folded inwards rather then half the kite being folded against itself with the method you were using. Might help. Quote
POT BELLY Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 /\/\ That's how I fold mine, roll both wing tips into the middle fold the trailing edge up a third expelling the air as I go the fold a third again ipto the leading edge. Never had an issue with wear in a ny shape or form. Quote
john_crossland Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Thats probably wher the strut bends when you place the kite face down on the beach and the wind blows over it. its a point of wear as the struts start to bend in the same place constantly. Get it repaired then in the future use extra sand when the kite is on the ground and put it on different panels to apply a little force so that the strut bends in a different spot each time when the kite is on the ground just try to stop it bending at the weak spot. Nah, I don't agree with that the rip is too far up the strutt. The strutts tend to bend at the leading edge rather than half way up. Quote
