Jack1988 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Next time make sure its not too windy!! My word you could have seriously messed yaself up! Sounds like a Gusty location to me? Inland no? Freak Gust? Quote
OldJim Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Yup sounds a bit scarey! Not that I'm a scaredy cat but i'd be tempted to take something like that out in much gentler winds... Winds of late have been pretty lumpy in land of late... Jim Quote
Jack1988 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Sounds like it was waaaaay to windy if that happened now i thought about it some more, also did you have the bar fully pushed out? im worried for you if your not sure, i have worrying thought of you accidently pulling on the bar without realising what happened or even why? if the bar was at maximum depower and it happened then it was waaaaaay too windy! or ur kites broke Quote
festa Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 its an arc designed to fly in gusty conditions but they are also a lifty kite so its always best to get used to flying them in less wind until you get more used too it Quote
Screaming_Lines Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Paddy, it would be best for you to sell your Venom 13M to me... This will prevent any further risks to your safety flying this kite! This is the sort of feedback you often hear from those getting into trouble flying a flxed bridle Flexifoil Blade, or similar! Not a Venom! These Kites by design should soak up gusty windy conditions, plus with your DEPOWER, you should have greater safety! Sounds like you took it out in winds too strong for either your ability, or even for the kite ? Also how heavy are you (perhaps a 13M might be too big)!? You might want to invest in one of the hand wind meters, and only fly when the wind speed is below say 15 - 20mph TOPS!! This way theres less chance at getting caught out like you might have done before! ? Quote
Frakke1599968664 Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 I suspect the bar got pulled in .... even I've done that (unsuspectingly and as a consequence of flying fixed bridles...) When a gust comes in the natural reaction is to freeze and dead mans grip the bar .... then the kite goes skywards in the gust and the bar is effectively "pulled in" by not even moving.... hence the lofting - it takes a cool head and practice to push the bar out or just let go in a gust - took me ages to get teh hang of it and I still mess up even now just a thought though F Quote

parksy Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Is it V1 or V2? Have you got the internal straps loose or tight or half way? Where you powered or depowered on the trim strap? There are plenty of adjustments on the V2 to tune the kite to how you want it, and to suit the wind conditions. Any idea what the wind was doing? Were the trees bent double, branches getting ripped off? lol Quote
