The Geoff Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) Thread deleted... luke2403 - you're clearly highly pissed off with the guy and want to warn others. Fair enough reaction, and very community spirited of you. But you can't publish the guy's name, address, bank details and then say he's a fraudster. He hasn't been convicted in court yet, it's incredibly iffy legally, for both you and KiteCrowd. By all means, post the facts of the deal you had, what the kite was, how much etc. Feel free to mention the area he lives in, and his first name, but seriously dude, not his bank details. And you can't say fraudster. May I suggest "ne'er-do-well" or "scurvy cur" instead. Both the Faversham Fraudster thread and the original "for sale" threads are backed up. Cheers, Geoff Edited March 8, 2010 by The Geoff Quote
luke2403 Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) Free speach MMMMM ? He has been able to delete his post for sale. Traceable? Edited March 9, 2010 by luke2403 Quote
heres jonny Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 give over mate...yes hes ripped you off but sort it out peacefuly, and without being a complete muppet and publishing basically the entire life of the guy on a public forum where anyone can read it...thats just silly from what youve said The Geoff is on the rip off guys side is he? didnt think so... its not about free speech, its about not being a complete muppet Quote
wind-seeker Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 think about that jonny when you get stung, id do a lot more than that if i was in his shoes, its just blatant piss taking, using a forum of kiters who trust each other, only one muppet and thats the guy who takes the cash and doesnt send the goods Quote
heres jonny Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 yeah i get where youre coming from, and understand the guys frustration(to an extent, not been ripped off myself) but no need ike Geoff said to post his name, surname adress, girlfriends name, bank details and everything like that contact the police, see if they can do anything...publishing all that stuff on a forum will do bugger all except show that youre not dealing with the situation calmly, and you probably wont get anywhere getting money back or the kite you paid for by being agressive, etc itll make the guy want to avoid you even more saying to the guy that maybe theres been a mix up, any idea whats going on, or going to the police with his details is more beneficial than shouting your mouth off, f-ing and blinding about something that none of us can actually do anything about hey ho, shout away Quote
SIMON_N Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 I agree to share the information and the guy has been a complete arse. Just hope it is a mistake and gets sorted. Hate to say it, but dont look like it will. Hopefully someone on here knows him and can say what the fuck mate get it sorted. Lets face facts someone out there must know him and where he flys. Personally i would be at his house and follow to next time flying and take the kite. Quote
luke2403 Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 True not convicted in the true eyes of the uk law a figure of speech. I'll be the first to post in big letters if the kite turns up. Shall we re write to say looks like he's ripped me off beware. The main reason was to remind all the law abiding members to be aware of the risks. It looks like i've been had. If he gets away with this he will prob do it again. Hope not you who gets caught. As regards bank a/c details we all pass around our bank details every day they are not private. Each time we fill out a direct debit or issue a cheque the whole world knows your details. My opinions by no means reflect the opinions of kite crowd. But by judging by the response with the two pages of replies in 24hrs. all those who replied seem to have the same opinion - he shouldnt get away with it. The more we and all know the better - free speach Quote
Cyprino Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 I can see this descending into a slanging match of sorts, haha. Quote

The Geoff Posted March 8, 2010 Author Report Posted March 8, 2010 I totally sympathise, but c'mon guys, suggesting I'm on the dodgy one's side, you're lucky I'm not easily offended, sheesh. If it's about free speech, then why for the love of dog haven't you posted up the details I said were OK luke? Come on, I'm not stopping you doing it, I'm asking you to, just within reason is all. luke2403 Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Just to set the record straight i'm not mouthing off without giving him a chance . been emailing giving him every opportunity to reply and sort it out. Even told to return the money and if that desp for cash keep back £20 The thread started as a warning to all with possible bit of verble pressure for the guy to get in touch. Somebody might have known him and a few local gentle words could have sorted. Quote

Badger Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Have you actually spoken to the guy? Has it occurred to you that he may have been unable to contact you for some reason? It there any possibility that he is not trying to fleece you at all? I certainly wouldn't risk my reputation (? yeah fair enough ...) for £150. Steve. Quote

The more we and all know the better - free speach First of all i hope you get the kite or your money back - stranger things have happened, but i feel for you. You are looking at what geoff did wrong, he was covering your ass as well as kitecrowds - its just as illegal to post bank details and defamatory remarks as him not sending you the kite (data protection and defamation vs breach of contract if memory serves). Post up what you can say, its enough for anyone on here that knows him and for others to steer clear, and also maybe post up any pictures of the kite he might have sent you? Quote
The Geoff Posted March 8, 2010 Author Report Posted March 8, 2010 That's all good luke, but can you edit out the surname? Ta. Quote
auto-photos Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 love it luke - surely - data protection only comes into effect if luke was a company? isnt there a kite crowd safe buyers guide - certain things to try and abide by---- ive bought kites and others have bought off me by direct bank transfer- it is risky but ive only done it with people i think have a good enough reputation - but its still risky ive made sure ive had an address and phone number - then phoned the people up for a chat - and arrange things from there. like i said ive not had a problem yet - paypal is usually safer - at least theres records of whats been recieved when - and if you havnt recieved the kit - then you can try and get the money back - good luck with the search luke - im deff on your side - but we need to all be a little bit safer with our buying - anyone can join up - pretend they are selling stuff - then after a few days type sold on the thread - making people think its sold without any hassel - do that over a few weeks - months and get the post count up - then people think they are fine - Quote
Crob203 Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 Luke have you contacted he police yet? You both entered into a contract on agreement of the sale price. By you sending the money and him confirming receipt you have effectively signed the contract. Therefore he is in breach of that contract! Call the police, you know where he lives etc etc. Alternative is do you know if he is a kid living with his parents? If that is the case write a polite letter to his parents explaining what has happened and Im sure your money will soon find its way back! Quote

frankydoodle Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 We had all this on another Forum. Some kid sold loads off gear to various people on the forum. After getting all the money but only sending some of the gear to a couple of the buyers, he just ignored all attempts at contact and this lasted months. What eventually swung it was that a forum member found his mother on facebook and posted it up on the forum, she turned out be as pissed of with her son as the peeps that hadn't got their gear, she must have give him a slap because he showed up with some lame excuse and slowly it all got resolved. Conclusion was. Some young lad got himself into a mess and didn't know what to do, not really dishonest more ignorant but in the end everyone got their gear or money back. Luke, i hope you get a result. If its a kid try and get hold of the parents. Quote
The Geoff Posted March 9, 2010 Author Report Posted March 9, 2010 Back in the days before the interweb there was a thing called Mail Order. People would write down what they wanted on paper (a "Letter") and also write some money on another bit of paper (a "Cheque"), and give it to a nice man with a red van. He would drive the van to the shop and give them the "Letter" and "Cheque". The shop would then give another man the goods and he would take them back to the first person. As I recall there was usually a thing that said "Please allow 28 days for delivery". Yeah, you're right luke, two weeks is a bit much, and if he's not responding to anything it's worrying, but hopefully the goods will turn up eventually. If the seller's reading this, then just give us a quick post to say it's being dealt with eh? Just put everyone's mind at ease. Quote
