KiteItRight Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) ive been a little pre occupied playing with this today, see what you guys think. hopefully it will stop ally moaning about having to ride boards with a "narrow stance":D the New Slingshot Fastrack system close up Edited February 24, 2010 by KiteItRight Quote
Afro1599968737 Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 its a nice idea but i'd be interested in hearing how the track afects flex and also if its possible for the track lips to flair outwards and have the insert pop out. Quote

Maro Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 You can say that again, hehe. I was thinking exactly the same, and do specific pads n straps have to be used? Quote
KiteItRight Posted February 24, 2010 Author Report Posted February 24, 2010 hey guys, i ws fiddling around with it today and comparing it to the other boards we got in. when comparing to the misfit, it really doesnt seem to flex differntly atall, BUT the dakro has more flex right at the tips. whether thats a result of the rail im not sure. i dont think you would have to use a particular foot pad strap. the screw accomadates for most pads, Quote
Forshaw Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 same sort of thing on snowboards Quote
Ally Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Same sort of thing on windsurf boards since god knows when! If it works this could be cool. . . Quote
spiky_dave Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Hmmmmmmmmm, could work, certainly interesting! I wonder if they'll do a dual-track version for the wakeboard / binding compatible kiteboards? In fact. they could have gone dual-track from the start, on all boards in both ranges, with a set of compatible pads Quote
illegalpower Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Burton have had that system on some of their snowboards for 3 years or so. Never tried one but would imagine you could find your perfect stance width. Looks like a good idea Quote

Think the only thing worrying me is how much stress they can take before the rails bend out of shape? Especially if they put them on boards designed for boots where the forces of catching an edge are massive compared to straps Quote

Especially if they put them on boards designed for boots where the forces of catching an edge are massive compared to straps The slingshot bindings use a nifty four hole bolt pattern that does a pretty good job of stopping any toe or heel lift, without messing with the flex of the board. Also the system to adjust the angle the bindings are is probably the best i've seen, so if you combined that with a track system you'd have both a continuous stance and angle adjustment and no heel/toe lift.... Andy-j Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Burton use this on their snowboards do they not? since 08 iirc. Quote

RichieRipz Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 That's very cool. But two bad thoughts popped into my head. You could ride it mutant. Could you do similar in the middle of the board and have adjustable inserts for optimum handle placement? Quote
fdvj Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 i think i have seen a similar system in the back of wheelchair adapted vans, the one in my mates van jams up with sand though and his seats are stuck. Quote

RichieRipz Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Mutants are great. I have one I picked up off here recently. It's about time they made a comeback. Get a mutant, stick some wakeboard bindings on it or something. The mutant needs to become legit. Quote
illegalpower Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Burton use this on their snowboards do they not? since 08 iirc. Think burton first used this system on the dominant board in 08 alright Quote
Bigbud Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 Bump Anyone ridden a Darko yet ? Thoughts ? Quote
AliB Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 shannon best rode a mutent with straps back in the day at the cable. still managed to do mobes as well. what a HERO Quote
KiteItRight Posted April 3, 2010 Author Report Posted April 3, 2010 gonna bring it to ainsdale tomrroa Quote
Junior Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 the idea with it on snowboards is to increase the flex ofthe board when riding it. usually because bindings are solid plastic or metal, they create a dead spot on the board where it cant flex. with this idea, the bindings used don't have baseplates, and so it creates a smooth curve throughout the board they also allow the rider to change the angle of their bindings very easily as you don't have to take out all the screws and set the base plate. that's some technical shit right there dunno why you'd need em on kite boards, straps already flex, and you can't even adjust the angle on them either by the looks of the photo's; like you can on the Burton Bindings. Gimmick maybe? i dunno, what is the idea behind putting it on kite boards tom? freddie Quote
jamesslingshot Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 (edited) it allows better fine tuning of stance width than a traditional insert pattern would allow, it will allow a far easier compatibility with boots as it wont matter what spacing the boot uses , they will just go straight on. also on the pads and straps that come with the board you can still change the toe in and out, not to the same degree as you can with the Burton Bindings but i am pretty sure that you have a wider range of options available than a standard pad and strap set up from anyone else.
