Yeah we talked about doing it in the summer, for charity the RNLI, then getting them to ride over as the safety boat, and donate all the money to them,

Some of the sailers do it and say the tide rips big time in the middle,

Would be good to do it in the right conditions,

Brian's the most regular on FlySurfers...but he's in a VW T5 and I don't think he's that crazy... Wouldn't mind doing the crossing in the right conditions though with proper safety etc. I imagine it would get a bit boring though.

Yeah i thought of brian, but i call him captain birdseye, for some reason couldn't remember his proper name so didn't post,

Na he not that silly, he had a massive camper van last time i saw him, living the dream!!!

been wanting to do that trip for 2 years and seems a lot of others are keen to do it also. Just it never seems to get off the ground.

1st call should be lifeboat station first as they will know the conditions better than us and if it's do-able.

2nd tell them we are having there boat for the day lol.

Right,,,, who's really serious about going for it ????????? and next time we are down we'll ask at station !!!

Well Bill said this guy was old. Like older than Ady even and he pops over for a, wait for it, an ice cream. My mate says he's watched him vanish into the distance. My mates also a car buff so when he says black Veto, thats it. I'm starting to smell BS.

As for the crossing. Well, i'm personally not a good enough kiter but I'd certainly lend support maybe as driving a recovery van or part of a waiting crew at Skegginton.

We should do it, to raise money for someone,

RNLI would be a good cause. I'd be happy to sponsor you and also help out on your epic journey. Please just don't make me go to skegginton wif Mick ;-) mwah

If we can get hold of the safety boat that the club uses for their sailing events Ill do the safety boat as qualified RYA Level 2 Powerboat, should be able to get little Lee or another of the local instructors to be 2nd in the safety boat too

there was a race across once as part of windfest - one of the windsurfers won...

Even when its flat inshore you get a fair size rolling swell out in the middle. Plus the cliffs at old town look only a few mm tall which is a bit scary...

Both stu and I have our powerboat rya 2 qualified too. But I think it probably more prudent to ask one of the guys who know the boat and it's quirks to help. Launching it looks like a right faff that rya 2 couldn't help with ;-). I know a few of them so happy to ask for help when you decide what your doing.

I'd be up for giving it a go... Would prefer to start at Skeggie and finish at Hunstanton. Or...are people thinking of doing a 2-way there and back? Don't think I've the stamina for that...personally....too old and knackered...

Yes I'd agree with that.

I also think lifeboat would be the ideal charity for the money to go to.

Not that i'm as old and knackered as you lot but for a first attempt i think a one way trip from skegg to hunny would be most sensible. (transport wise anyway).

Who wants to meet up and ask some questions at the lifeboat station and then find a boat?

(oh and would someone do me a favour and print me an application form for the sailing club please) me printers fooked !
