mick Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 Well, kitesurfing wise that was a bit of a disappointment but I got to meet JonM so it least something reasonable came out of the trip. Talking of trips, the A14 was blocked solid and pretty well stationary so I had a nice 5 hr journey home. I had a guy get a bit stroppy with me after I gave him a little advice. He bought quite a large surf type canoe to the water. He had 2 tiny children about to get in when I politely asked if he'd like to borrow my life jacket for one of them. He told me to mind my own business and if anything happened he'd be able to rescue them. It was high tide and quite rough tbh. so I asked which one of the two he'd rescue cos it'd be quite difficult to get both of them. He decided to only allow one in at a time. I think choosing was making it difficult. Quote

I think choosing was making it difficult. Amazing isn't it... On warm days recently we have had a lot of people in the water at Old Town. It still is only a couple of days a year. And generally easy to avoid as it's a pretty big beach. Still see way to many kids in inflatable dinghies and other stuff...no life jackets no supervision. Everybody has a right to have fun but where do they park their brains...? Someone said...there should be a designated swim zone...I said please don't. It's a couple of weekends a year when anyone wants to go swimming and as soon as you set up designated zones someone will have to police it. We've got enough rules to be getting on wih for the time being IMHO... If you're around next week give us a shout as I have the week off. Quote
mick Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 You know Mark, its hard to be too critical after watching the kids with their boogie boards and a few in the lagoons in inflatables. Its about having fun in the water and hopefully, one or two will book a kitesurf course with one of Hunny's resident schools in a few years. BUT, the number of tiny things that run off down to the water without supervision is a tad scary. Apart from this guy and his 2 in the canoe, there was a pair of girls no older than 4 or 5 down in the water about an hour from high tide with their parents still sat by the dunes. Maybe I was a little over zealous with mine. I have Saturday, Monday and Tuesday off so if the wind is playing, then I'll do Monday and Tuesday over there. Look forward to catching up with you. Quote

If anyone happens upon a SuperShinn it is likely mine and I'd appreciate a heads up. Cheers SH1T !!!!! There goes my demo. Blimey, I hope you find it mate. Ive had a good weekend on the water. Saturday at Heacham south and today at my secret spot. (Searles) 2 days pretty well fully powered on my 9. Well I saw an amazing sight this afternoon. I sat up in the cliff car park having my lunch before coming home. Along the edge of the cliff came a kite. The guy was obviously walking along the beach. Next thing, he walks up the cliff path with the kite still up in the air. He then walked onto the carpark and dodged between the cars with the kite wibbling about. The wind was quite flukey up there. He walked up the car park and landed it leaving it lying in the middle of the carpark. I hope it wasn't one of you lot. Or is that acceptable ? Edited October 19, 2014 by mick Quote

Nobody likes to get sand on their kite Mick but that's beyond silly.... It was pretty gusty out there today. Anyway, hopee a mini miracle happens and you'll get your demo next time.:-) Quote
cowboy54 Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 Heading over to new town tomorrow morning about 11 if anyone's thinking of going out Quote
mick Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Old Town or searles, that is the question. Maybe see you over there later. Quote
mick Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Hi Mark. I have to work this week but I have Monday off next week I think. Me and AndyC08 had a good sesh at Searles. I was on my 9 and maxed. We had some real flat water blasts just before low tide as the sand bars were coming up. Was you working today? Quote
balugh Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 I was out at the sailing club...having a decent session then kept breaking things. I've tomorrow off...so if I can cobble a bar and lines together from bits I'll probably go out again. Quote
mick Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 I set up my 9 and my lines were in a right mess. They got wet and it took me half an hour to sort. I came to launch the A mans kite and the bridle had caught. I was starting to think the man upstairs was telling me something. Then..... I forgot my harness and had to walk back to the van. Fortunately, when I got on the water, it was great but I was fully depowered and my old Cabrinha was like a jelly fish. Time for a new un me thinks. I certainly had a great time. Mark, did you see a little guy out on a small kite. Blue helmet and red Hunstanton vest over his wetty. I thought it was Toby. He had launched from the ramp. Quote
C00KIE Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 Wasn't toby.we are in Northumberland for a few days. Quote
mick Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 Wonder who it was then. I was wondering because I'm sure Toby had a Hunny vest and helmet on last week but this fella was on an Envy type blue kite. Certainly a young fella going like a demon. Quote
balugh Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 Didn't see that Mick. Had a lovely day today....nearly 20 degrees....not as windy as yesterday but still nice. Back to London in he morning though... Quote
mick Posted May 7, 2015 Report Posted May 7, 2015 Bloody hell 2014 last post. Consider this a bump. Ive just found what appears to be a great camp site right in town. Ive been staying over at Holme but it'll be here from now on. Manor Park Holiday Village Manor Road Hunstanton, Norfolk PE36 5AZ 01485 532300 Ive just spoke to a guy called Mikey and when I say, customer service, this fella is seriously good. He couldnt have been more helpful. Have a look here. Seems excellent value for sure. >>>https://www.pitchup.com/campsites/England/East_Anglia/Norfolk/Hunstanton/manor-park-holiday-village/?depart=2015-06-01&adults=1&within=16&arrive=2015-05-31 Quote

mick Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 Had a good couple of hours on the water yesterday at Searles. Me and the gay lord rocked up and got straight on the water approaching low tide. We stayed out till we had to ride up between the groynes and only just managed to get packed before we lost the beach. Wind was a bit up and down bang on shore 12 mtre but gay lord was riding like a pro and me..... like a complete tit. Ever have one of those days when FA goes right? . BUT it was warm and sunny so who gives a ****. Popped up the cliffs on the way home and I'm sure I spotted 2 KITE EZE students in the water. Those Ts stand out well thats for sure. Quote
kiteconvert Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 Mick where exactly is searles?.we were at the town beach today and it was pretty good bit cross on but just right for my 11. Quote
mick Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 Well, if you were at town beach, you'de have seen the two of us down by the fairground. We did come up to the yacht club. You'de all cleared the water when we finished. The beach up there goes about an hour before Searles. They've frigged the parking up down there by piling a truck load of soil on the layby. I like it there as theres next to no walk at low tide, much like town beach but its just quieter. No one goes there. Oh sorry, I just read you were there today. I was there yesterday. Quote
