I hope you guys don't think I'm a woos or anything but I've found using two winders, one for the left and one for the right works for me :good: I've only ran my lines out twice, had two flys and had trouble  Maybe in the future (with more experience ) I'll use one winder for all four lines but for now I'm not to proud to use two :D

I tie two lines together at the sleving, and wind them up as a two liner.

I have coloured each line so you know when you set the kite up you put the correct one on the bottom or top.

All you have to do is make sure the "two" lines sets are separate when setting up, and then each one will be a top and bottom line.

Hope that helps.

Is it possible you have been winding straight around the winder? If so each wind will put a twist in your lines.

You should be crossing over the centre of the winder in a figure 8 each wrap-

Or is the issue because its a Quad line?

The DVD that come with your REV shows one option but there are a few others I have seen REV fliers use.

1- Leave your lines connected to the kite and pack still connected

2- Connect the flying end to a ground stake before winding

Whichever method you use just make sure when you fly next that the lines come off the same way they went on by holding the handles or winder in the same hand and facing the same way.

Thanks guys, alls good now, :good: I've tried in the backyard the two different ways of winding and had success with both.I didn't think that keeping the winder in the same hand made any difference but I was wrong :( My lines have black sleeving (for bottom) and white (for top)this works well :yes3:

Yeah thats a biggie for most people, holding the lines in one hand until the job is done and then doing exactly the reverse when unwinding and setting up.

Regarding winding in a fig 8 pattern - this is totally unnecessary. If you wind the lines on the winder in one direction, yes you do put a twist in for every rotation around the winder, however, if you unwind the lines from the same side of the winder the twists are removed for every unwinding rotation so the net effect is not twists. Its 6 to one and half a dozen to the other which way is best, do whatever works best for you. With the style of winder shown in the picture, its very difficult to unwind from the "wrong" side

Nigels advice about line colouring is good too and its very useful to also colour and left and right (as well as top and bottom)!

Learning a method that allows the lines to remain connected is the easiest and quickest way to set up and get flying. Also if you come over to visit, I'll take you for a fly and show you all these things and more :)

Very true, however... I find that if I do a straight wind, as I run my hand down the lines it tends to push all of the twists toward the kite, so that the last 1 to 2 metres of line is bunched and tangled because of 100+ twists in the line compacted into such a small length. As steve said, the twists do come out next time, but a firure 8 wind is just alot tidier :good:
