Andy C
Been looking into getting a surfboard and giving it a go with the kite, found a Bic Kite Surfboard 198 X 53 which looks the part and is very cheap...wondering if anyone has any experience with it?? Cheers! Andrew
npeac
They are great for learning the ropes as they are quite indestructable. take the 2 side fins off as they create huge drag. its quite bounce with very soft rails making it very forgiveable. the deck pad is very good as well making it a nice ride strapless. if its cheap, no brainer as you could always sell it on if you want to get a better one later on. oh and its a surfboard with straps rather than a directional kiteboard so you can paddle it if you are small. Andy C
Cheers for that...any opinions on the double front straps?? Most kite surfboards seem to only have one, not sure if that's an advantage or not!
poldo
I won't start with this board......more complicated than a modern bidirectional good for learning (around 145x43)
Andy C
You mistake my drift - I can Kitesurf, just fancy trying waveriding. This board has double front pads so an offset stance which I've not seen before on kite surfboards.
poldo
Ah, sorry.... with the 2 front straps I think riding toeside is almost impossible, but you could take them off For an intermediate kiter this board could be ok for strapless riding. I used to use my 7'3 Bic for that, now an NSP 6'0.
Andy C
That's funny, I was thinking toeside might be easier, your body would be facing slighly more towards the kite. Wasn't so sure what standard heelside riding would be like...
Andy-j
my skimboard has the option for 3 straps setup like that for gybing (like windsurfing) or with only 2 set collinear. you might find this is the same!?
