rasga Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 All I was saying was that it seems that Flexi have made a concious desicion to cut costs, but that it is unlikely to be reflected in the RRP. Though vice versa, did the prices go up when they did multi colour options (all relative etc, if not why would they go down). Quote
The Geoff Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Wow, pictures of a new Blade and the chat's all about the colour scheme.... Yes, I agree, it's not perfect, but can we please have some technical notes from people who've flown it? Quote
Breezer Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 One colour for size is a bad ider it should be a min of 2 colour for size like the Blade 3s. Also to scrap the 8.5 size is grim news and I hope its not true. Quote

The 8.5 size is aways better in low winds and epic in high winds. I enjoy boarding with my Blade 3 10.5 in low wind days when no one els can. Quote

Always good to have a low wind kite! 6.5 size is what I regard as a mid size kite not to have a larger size is crazy. POWER is everything! Quote
slide Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 it was on the iv range where the 8.5 started to become extinct- because the iv 6.5 is quick to turn and loop and the power is smooth and consistant and faster than the 8.5 - the 6.5 has a big range , a good low wind kite and still manageable in a strong wind Quote
Zotty Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 sorry but after an epic session with 3 riders on 8.5's today at borth i have to say that the 8.5 has its place (even if its for the heavier rider lol). yes the 6.5 is supa dupa but man ya gotta love the 8.5 when its on form! Quote
abba Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 1 size per colour will be better than the previous choice of 3 colours... as you can see what others are flying from the car parrk and take similar sized kites with you... i did prefer the 2 colours per size, as i used to see how fast i could learn each combination:rolleyes: dropping to 6.5 is pants... the 8.5 has always had the added grunt over the 6.6/6.5 and will be sadly missed! i love my 8.5III Colour scheme/design looks ok, nothing compared to the Manta and general Ozone graphics of recent... i can see my money going towards Ozone in the non too distant Have Flexi kits become more transparent? my 8.5 is very heavy looking, the new kites look almost semi see through:confused: Quote
frayz Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Cheaper material on the new kites as far as i know, this could be why it looks more transparent. And yes the 8.5m BIV is an epic kite, i love mine to bits. Crying shame Flexi seem to be dropping it. Quote
Red Panda Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 The 4.9 is Grey Gold and White. Seen it in action and it looks good. Quote
silvamonkey Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 does anyone have any idea when they're gonna be on sale and if they're gonna raise the price tag? Quote
QUOTH Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 IMO the better question is when are they released, so we know when to buy second hand IV's! Quote
Guest Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 The 4.9 is Grey Gold and White. Seen it in action and it looks good. Charlie @ Flexi Says - You should have gone to specsavers The 4.9 is not that colour! Quote
abba Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Cheaper material on the new kites as far as i know, this could be why it looks more transparent. yet they are the same price, if not slightly more expensive:rolleyes: haven't really noticed Ozone kite going semi transparent... Quote
iant84 Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 yet they are the same price, if not slightly more expensive:rolleyes: haven't really noticed Ozone kite going semi transparent... With the pound getting weaker, prices for materials go up, hence the need to use cheaper material to prevent prices going up. The ********ty economy is increasing the cost of almost everything. Quote
MatJ Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 I don't think they should get rid of the 8.5m... It's always good to have that extra power and float on lighter wind days. I could understand them dropping the 10.5 when they brought out the BIV, but the 8.5m? It was probably my favourite blade. Quote
spiky_dave Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 No idea if its true in this case, but transparent doesn't necessarily mean cheap. the thinner and lighter you want you material for a given strength, the more see through it'll be.... And thinner and lighter fabrics make a pretty big impact in efficiency....Take the near-transparent silver arrow for example: http://www.atbshop.co.uk/images/flysurfer/flysurfer_silver_arrow_2_is.jpg Quote
Breezer Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 does anyone have any idea when they're gonna be on sale and if they're gonna raise the price tag? June! I could understand them dropping the 10.5 when they brought out the BIV, but the 8.5m? It was probably my favourite blade. The 8.5 is my favourite and see's about 50% more day light compaired to my Blade 6.5. Very sad that there no 8.5. Quote
hotodan Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 Is the new blade v gunna be de-power at all? also does anyone know the biggest size that it comes in? cheers $hotodan Quote
