A surreal session.

Well I have what seemed to ******** session after ******** session over the last month or so, so today I went out only had an hour spare but hell its better than nothing. The wind was only light 8mph gusting to 12mph and I had a bloody great time on the 10 Frenzy 06.

The sun was shining the moon was over my right shoulder ( this was in the middle of the day) and I had 2 Red kites of the bird variety, above me following my kite up and down the field for about 20 minutes. Those big bird of pray are amazing to see, how chilled out was I? Very, it was very surreal.

 

Just though I would share my thoughts.

One sunday we had a bird of prey hovering over us too in the middle of a flat field with nothing for hundreds of meters, maybe theyre just nosey

I can be found at Marley sports center with the board or on the top of Baildon moor trying to get to grips with a bit of hill jumping, but most of my flying is at a lunch time on the stray in Harrogate.

I’m not a local lad, I moved up here from Huntingdon about 14 years ago. Yes I’m still on “offcomedone” or what every they call it in these parts.

 

I’m looking forward to getting my new 13m XTC for some more days like this.

 

Can anyone remember the difference in the bottom end between the FS XTC 13 and a 06 10 frenzy?

If you zoom out on this map you will see Baildon golf cause. Baildon golf cause makes up part of the moor, the hill is to the south on the fairway that shown in green on the map.

 

The fairway makes a nice site to landboard on as well, but you didn’t heard that from me.

LoL, i actually went to baildon moor once to have a looky, seemed to be too many walkers about so we moved on.

 

What do you fly mate? Im on the stray too (live in harrogate)so i'll keep my eyes peeled

I’m mostly on a blue and yellow 06 Frenzy, mostly on my ass or pulling the safety.

The stray is a very challenging site to fly on, I have tried all sorts of kite to get the best out of the place, and the frenzy is doing just as well as the Venom used to. I do think my flying style suites the Frenzy more than the Venoms and the frenzy is a dame site easier to sort out and get back in the air after its all gone a bit t*ts up.

 

What kite you using? board or buggy?

I'll be there with either a 4.9m blade or a 9-12m LEI. Theres a couple of others mates who I fly with. One who flies a 6m ace, and another with a B 4.9 but usually dangling from a 10.5 ion 3. We all board (attempt).

 

Sold my Manta to fund getting some LEI's as i promised to go somewhere very nice and hot this summer for a few weeks

 

The Stray is a bit dodgy for sure. 90% of the time its gusty as hell, ive seen it fluctuate from 0mph to 20 whilst changing dierection lol

 

Although last sunday was soo steady, i had my 9m parked which is usually not possible. It was a tad too low though.

 

Just need it to stay smooth like that then maybe i'll progress!
