And the tide was just sarting to come in.....with about 5knt water flow coming in between the islands, good for light winds .

Just looking at it again on the GMaps, that place is huuuuge!

I assume the weird banding on some area's on the maps are just seaweed layers, just like in your photo's.

Might be worth checking out next time the wind is on... speaking of which, this weekend looks cranking.

Just a heads up that if my research is correct that this is actually a DoD site, and i quote...

"It is currently used by the Department of Defence to store armaments."

It's also apparently "an internationally significant wetland and waterfowl habitat" as well as "significance for the local Wathaurong people."

Have you ever met anyone on your adventures out there?

They might not be so friendly.

Yeah, when it's blowing i doubt you'll see anyone else out there. :good:

The site is definitely listed separately from Point Wilson, but i won't go as far as to mention it's name in here.

A little update... it appears the site is not a DoD site, but it's apparently a significant winter migratory bird area. It's managed by Parks Vic, but a few other bodies and comes into mention in a few documents involving international treaties... but aside from that it looks alright.

From what i was reading the water level varies between completely dry at low tide, through to ~1.2m at high tide.

Bloody Hell Andre next time you post a whole heap of photos can you use fotosizer or something to reduce the size of the photo files before uploading them. It will take less time to upload them to the site and alot less time for people viewing your post.

At just over 107MB for 1 post I think you may hold the record for the largest single post in terms of file size in XK's history.
