coupe-se Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Wondered what happened to Tim Aka Sniperwolf. He had the one and only stainless Parastorm buggy I've ever seen, the camber adjusters used to come loose regularly I seem to remember. Have some videos of him and Butch doing their thing on a Tarmac runway somewhere. Bought my 1st race buggy from Muttley who has long since gone. Bought one of my 1st kites from Encona. Mark Rose (now lives in New Zealand), Simon Bailey, LoveKylie (Nev), Flyingscotsman (Kevin), Moosehunter, Flipper, Jango, Flossie are all names from the past. Trickbitz is still one here as is Avspider lol .... True dedication. Watching Olli and David Ursell do their thing on boards is something I won't forget. Saw them at an ill fated Kite Competetion set up by Gary from Airboss and never seen boarder go so high in a controlled manner. God they made me feel old! Lol The last X-Games at a Westward Ho threw the biggest and most insane party I've ever been to. The people in the pancake wagon were so drunk and stones in the early hours that they were giving and throwing the pancakes around. 1st time I met Avspider looking as though his nose had exploded. Also met Windwelder chatting non stop as he cut grooves in tyres. Wallop ..... Mel and Garry style with 'Swamp Donkey' on the menu produced great memories. No idea how I made the time to kite so much back then, but met loads of genuine nice people. I think Rasga runs this forum now (maybe), thanks very much Neil for keeping it going and letting read and reminisce. PS Anyone remember the Red Baron? The guy was not playing on a full deck and the most argumentative, mentally unbalanced member of the forum. Quote

mick Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Called Mick now I believe haha Love it. !!!! Hey noob, this is old members thread so its out of bounds to you. Quote
broraboyan Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 So when do you become an old member is there a threshold 4000 posts maybe? Quote
mick Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 I would say 10 yrs membership. Number of posts would not be a guide. BUT you have the old members who post once in every 5 yrs just to let us know they're still around. Completely pointless if you do not make a contribution to the forum. Quote
coupe-se Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Mick, didn't Flexifoil bugger around with the post count at one point in 2005/2006? Didn't they reset them and then posting in certain sections didn't increase your count? Peterborough Buggy Nuts were on there 15th thread I think as they had got so large, they kept closing them down. I post every year or so, just when people think they're finally rid of me ....... I post just to p1$$ em off! Quote

I remember most of these and for sure, your PB nuts were a mega active group. I had quite a strange incident involving one of your lot. I came back from Turkey and was oh so bored. I got talking to one of the Peterbro lot. A buggying accountant who was living in Southampton. We chatted about kites, buggying, accountancy etc. Mini Cooper. Dyou remember mini cooper? Mini forgot to tell me she was a beautiful stunning redhead. AV had to pm me after about 2 mths into our relationship. We'd arranged to meet at Wallop 07 I think it was. I went, I hid I saw her, I sneaked away. My gosh, she was nice. Quote

You are talking about Fran. Lovely girl and very pretty ;-) The Southampton crew and us linked up through this forum and became good friends. Fran dated one of our crew 'Scoobyrob' before he moved to Australia. Fran recently got married ..... You missed out there!! ;-) We met 'Knob-rot-Ed' at Wallop. He managed to dip the tip of his todger in chemical in one of the well used portaloo's and it went a bit gammy. He was a regular at Mablethorpe. Wallop memories ...... Icarus (Lee) having his extreme accident. Guys in low wind putting a 10.5 Blade on 4 sets of 25m lines. Craig Sparkes staging into our camp around 2am one morning holding a broken thumb. Rasga appearing about 3am in our camp holding a taser. Seeing the crab Buggy in action. Mel wearing the shortest dodgiest set of shorts I've ever seen! Night flying in the pitch black whilst everyone was p1$$ed as farts. Tony from square metre turning up in an old converted Fire Engine. Those really were good times with the sport at its peak. So many shops have closed since then :-( Edit Didn't the Powerball craze start on this forum? Edited May 31, 2014 by coupe-se Quote
mick Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Fran and my family remained good friends for many years and she really is a special girl. When you mentioned ED. The only Ed I knew from Maybo was Buzzers mate Ed. The two of em were camped at Wallop. Well, their tent was stacked to the roof with beer. Great lads if it was them. Ah the thumb incident. Twas actually his toe which he broke being a twat and kicking shit out of his Flexi belly pan. I know cos he was showing off to me and Frank. As for the Blades on huge lines........ http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a366/micktryx/DSC03535.jpg Quote
coupe-se Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Yep ..... Same Ed lol. Last time I saw them both they had recently taken to kite surfing. Craig ..... Oops, his toe .... Was quite a few years ago in my defense. Wasn't it a p1$$ed Mel that drove him to the hospital? That was a weird night, 1st Craig then Rasga, and then all night til we went to bed around 6am random people appeared at our camp and joined in the party and then crawled off. Think it was Moosehunter that came to Wallop late and could see the Blade in the air for miles before he got there. Great times, never to be forgotten. Airvents was the ill fated competition series. Just remembered. AdrenMike, Rob Hills, Neil Retty and Gary from Airboss were the judges. I got roped into manning the Megaphone and getting the riders into the arena on time and in order over the 3 rounds that were staged. Anyone remeber the one night that a girl (Leah I think) tried touting a phone sex line (something like that) and got more than she bargained for? She posted one pic and the lads then started posting loads of others from her account. She then brought a friend into the forum for support and a the forum nearly went into meltdown due to the amount of people and posts. Flexi shut it down and vaped it the next day. Wonder if its in the archives here? Edited May 31, 2014 by coupe-se Quote
mick Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 I actually met Ed last year at Maybo. Buggying believe it or not. It was me that taught em to kitesurf. Even before I could do it I bullshitted em into letting me teach em. You'de laugh. I convinced them to shout Robin Hood everytime they attempted a waterstart. All afternoon it was " Robin Hood" at full volume. I haven't had the heart to tell em it was a wind up. I originally met em about 2005. Nick Buzzer had a Flexi and a V max. He was crap. I taught him to trick a bit. 2 wheelin no hands he was fine. Backwards 2 wheelin no hands they never got. I remember Nick buggying thro one of the lagoons. All that was visible was his shoulders and head. I peed myself. Great lads. We met up again accidentally at Hunny a few years ago. Nick now lives in Snettisham so they don't meet up often. I was buggying alongside my mate Frank at Maybo. I could see another buggy coming toward us. Frig, he moving fast but it looks odd. As he got closer I realised it was Buzzer. Coming backwards toward us at over 40 mph. It was a scary passing I tell thee. Remember these. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a366/micktryx/v-flex_-_002.jpg Quote

Remember these. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a366/micktryx/v-flex_-_002.jpg Oh yes, I know the V-Flex extremely well. My mates Jim (Smogthemog) and Don (KingDon) are the ones that bought one each from Marcus/Tony. Looked the dogs knackers but were terrible to use due to the soft springs. Jim tried all sorts of springs and dampers and ended up putting bolts in there place. Jim sold his to a young girl 3 or 4 years ago. I believe Don still owns his. Maverick bought a dual seat V-Flex just after them and ironed a few of the problems out. Marcus (Darkwater) had some cracking idea's ... Split buggy (suicide) and a kite bike I seem to remember at Wallop. the V-Flex was too complex and needed serious engineering know how to be useable. Smogthemog was in his V-Flex at Hoylake and I was in my Iguana. It was after a race and we were the only 2 on the entire beach. God knows how many square miles of empty smooth beach ..... Smog crashed into me with that sodding Tank of a Buggy!!!! You couldn't make it up. Ed and Nick were cracking lads and really funny. Doesn't surprise me one bit that you had them stringing along lol. Met so many people at Mablethorpe over the years. 1st met Trickbitz there and so many other faces that I can't put names to now. The large Buoy used to be a good landmark to use, shame they removed it. Those damned lagoons were the cause of many an injury. I 1st used discs on Mable, was racking along happily at 40mph+ and due to sitting so low couldn't see that the ground dropped away about 4 foot into a lagoon. I hot the water nose down and was hurled out the buggy which ended up on top of me. Didn't break anything but was the worse accident I've had. Me, Trickbitz and 2 ambulance guys had to carry RiTchie off the beach over the Dunes due to knocking his knee due to a accident with the lagoons. Some were a lot deeper once you were in em than expected. It was Ed and Nick that laughed when councilors Horse reared up on the beach through being spooked (they weren't anywhere near it with kites). It was her being annoyed that brought the restrictions there ..... That we always ignored. Quote
mick Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) I met Popeye there with his latest creation the other year. It hurt my eyes it was that shiney. Fancy a go he said. I felt terrible as I lost control and steered into a 3 ft deep lagoon. There was water peeing out of it for an hour. Funny now but Pops didn't laugh much at the time. Read Popeyes Skeggy journey on his webby. How the guy with me got hyperthermia and sun stroke at the same time. He then mega vomited in my van several times spraying the entire wind screen from one side to the other like a scene from the Exorcist before shitting himself and lapsing into unconsciousness. It still stank 2 yrs later. Please do not ever ask about how we cleaned hi up. Things like that are just best forgotten or where his clothes ended up. Met House a few times, who of course was a regular. Really nice guy as well. Yes the V Flex. The Formula 1 of buggys apart from one thing. They were crap. Looked great but as soon as the down wind wheels got loaded, they sucked the power and movement out of the buggy. Awful !!! I can see why losing the springs would help. Did you ever do Wroughton kite Festival. Riding the runways? Edited June 1, 2014 by mick poetic license of explaining the situation better. Quote
coupe-se Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 (edited) If Wroughton is loosely in the vicinity of Oxford, then yes. One year Mel was stood in the path of oncoming Buggys with a speed gun. We had a paid agreement with the farmer that used Oakington Airfield along with its short runway and Tarmac service road. Sniperwolf, Vinny and Butch used to come over and show us what we could do with some practise. Again, met loads of people there and can't remember any names. Me, Sir Harvo and Smogthemog did the Mable to Skegness and back run back in 2005. Smooth onshore wind so we played hooky from work. The only obstruction was a giant pipe from inline into the sea with sand banked over it at one point due to major civil engineering works. There was a sub 10mph breeze and we had the big kites out and got to Skegness without issue. On the return journey the wind picked up steadily and we kept the same kites up and got faster and faster. The end section of the return leg was 20mph+ wind and Me/Sir Harvo were using a 8.5 Razors and Smog a 9.5m Century. We must have looked like 3 missiles flying down the beach with Rooster tails of sand behind each Buggy. Seem to remember screaming like a loony in excitement and scared sh1tle$$. The other high wind incident I had was when a Race at Ainsdale was cancelled due to gale force winds. One numb nut (me) thought my 70kg race buggy and my 90kg weight would be fine with a little 2m Raptor. I launched the kite and did 3 miles before I managed to stop and turn the buggy round. It wa too far to walk back so I relaunched the kite. The wind was so so strong that without a lie .... I had the brake lines wrapped round my hand at one point and the kite just flew and pulled me backwards. Was shaking like a leaf by the time I got back to my set up point. Me and Smog also bugged at Mable on 0.7m Busters. You could barely stand in the wind , with sand storms blowing down the beach. Those 0.7's pulled like a train!! Smog was floating on the sea at one point in his V-Flex being pulled along happily. Stories to bore the grandchildren with in a few years lol. Edit Just read the account of your Skegness run.... Bloody hell sounds epic lol. Our journey to Skeg was slow but steady and took a couple of hours but is eclipsed by your event! Edited June 1, 2014 by coupe-se Quote
