Bbug Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 There is a natural law on the lines of Murphys' law (you all know that one) or Gumpersons' law (the probability of an event occuring is inversely proportional to its' desirability). It's the law of unintended outcomes. I'll explain. You pass a law that allows lawyers to advertise, resulting in "no win no fee" adverts and ending in councils being too scared to allow kiting on beaches. Or you pass a law that forbids adverse comment about a persons race or nationality and the result is that we are all afraid to say anything within in any public place which may be taken as racist/homophobic/nationalist/ageist even if it was not intended as such. Or you pass a law that says no unemployed person should starve to death for lack of money and you end up with a whole subculture that will never work to support themselves. A similar law is Severides law- "the leading cause of problems is solutions" So yes, some laws/rules should be broken, especially if they come from Brussels Quote
Sand-Yeti Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 an epletic fit can also be described as a brain storm Point made, a word used for years suddenly becomes offensive because some twat with nothing better to do decides that they make themselves feel important by complaining about it. Equally, vulgar language would put one in serious trouble when I was a lad. Watching TV today, vulgar words are common place. So what is the politically correct word for Brainstorming these days. By the way Atavar, I'm middle management where I work but would change your comment to mean upper management. Quote

Acechav Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Rules are meant to be broken (to a degree) I think. Look at Eifion and how we wore/wear our School Ties as a good example Quote
