Right okay here is a plan. Wind good lets all go fly a kite if not lets all go ride a bike :) Enjoy the wedding :):):):):)

Tides not helping this weekend for those who prefer dry flying.

Today it's looking good for BRS and Rhossy. BRS HW = 10:40, so afternoon session til it goes dark. Rhossy HW is 12:20ish, so even less beach time. Ideal for the waterbabes though:rolleyes:;):D (Andy/Karen - enjoy the wedding;):D)

Sunday it's looking like Northerlies, so pick your spot (Llanddona looking good), just set your alarm for a very early start for open beaches as high tide is around 14:30 along the North Coast, including Llanddona.

We won't be venturing out this weekend as tied up today and sailing tomorrow.

Have fun:D

does any1 got to ynyslas near borth

I've been a few times and other midland flyers (F/O Kite being one) use it. It's a good beach. However, I only go in the Summer as tend to be based in Bala at weekends, so only just over an hour's drive. From home it's 2 hours plus, and if winds are good for there, they're good for BRS or Anglesey, which are easier to get to for me.

That looks a good beach, how long is it

The playable area is about 1 mile long, poss a little bit more. Behind the camera there are a series of groynes, whcih I'm pretty sure mark the start of the no-fly zone. However, this might just be for the summer when the bucket and spade brigade are out and about. If flying the whole beach is permissable, then it's probably 3 miles long.

No doubt F/O kite will be able to provide the answer if/when he reads this post.

Best bit is the North end anyway as beach opens up more when tide is out.

Borth is an excellent option...loads of space at low tide but nothing at high....its comes right up onto the stones banks.....

Sand can be a littel soft in areas but apart from that nothing to really fear about.....go for it you wont be disappointed I know....just dot tell everyone....lol

Or me! :)

Brs has a total ban on in the summer due to the sheer number of bucket and spade brigade on it!

Just round the corner past the estuary is Harlech too which is lovely for bang on westerlies think me an sammy measured around 3 miles long I think BRS is slightly under this.

just measured on google earth its about 1.5 miles long ish ;)

Hi guys after a frustratingly over crowded session at west shore on the weekend, I'm thinking of going further a field next time we get a westerly.

I'm just getting into unhooking, raileys etc so need plenty of space and flat water (or rhossy style waves with big flat gaps). Any suggestions.

I've only been to BRS at mid tide on a westerly and going across the waves wasn't ideal, I imagine it would be better on a SW.

I've heard about lagoons at BRS at low tide, how does they compare with west shore and how long are they there?

Also heard Aberdyfi estuary is nice and flat but that is too far for me to travel.

Any more suggestions?

Have you been drinking again;):D

The place in question (in the pic) is Borth, or more precisely, Ynyslas just over the water from Aberdovey.

Will you please stop telling everyone about the best kept secret beach in Wales - well it was.

It's good to share;)

I'm pretty sure that it's not going to get over run as it's miles from anywhere and takes forever to get there.

Hoping to catch up with you on a beach some time soon:D

Alright James, BRS lagoons are pretty good. mid to low water. we were there at high water and there werent any. You need to go to the far left (as you look at the sea) of the beach nearer the estuary to get the best lagoons. West works fine if you head down there!

Newborough on a big low tide is completely flat - waves break on the sandbars and works in a westerly.

Have heard that a few people (namely Ben Todd, organiser of the Rhossy park Jam) ride behind the newborough spit in an SW, Off the house and wreck at Moel Y Don but havent been there and not sure what wind works best.

Nowhere can match westshore for flat water unfortunately James. Keep westshore for you flat water sessions & everywhere else for play time & making you even better next time you hit westshore. I've been really unlucky with newborough & only ever had flat water there once, the breakers when it's mental & bang onshore can be annoying but it is huge & rarely gets crowded unlike my current fave of rhossy. Haven't tried BRS in the water but we were buggying there a couple of weeks back with gusts probably pushing 35 & it did seem surprisingly flat, nothing like westshore flat though.

BRS this weekend? Oh, ok then :D

yeh deffinately brs just owns, i might sound like a bit of a wimp but i suppose i speak for a few that falling in water is horrible or even when sprays up from your wheels so i wish it dried out a bit quicker because the beach is just massive but most is wet. :( if that makes any sense.lol :D need to get in the buggy aswell this weekend! :D

That weekend I was on the water at BRS ;) It was really mad, the waves picked up for about an hour then disappered again, great day that :D

Hold onto yer hats Anglesey looks massive at the weekend, big swell with a big period  http://magicseaweed.com/Anglesey-Surf-Report/37/
