Hi all

i want to get another power kite in the shape of a depower foil.

i really like the flexifoil sabre 2

but some people are saying otherwise what do you think

the reason i like flexifoil so much is that the killing systems are to me the best and the least effort to put back together.

thanks

what kind of wind range do you want to use it in? what body weight are you? all important factors you need to take into account before buying anything.

Unless you are 6stone or you plan on using it as a high wind kite, a 7mtr foil is far too small, you need to be looking around the 10mtr mark as a main kite (depower foils that is)

there is so many depower kites now on the market your best to shop around and try as many as you can before parting with you cash, and loads of progressions have been made in depowers since the "sabre"

try and fly a frenzy and a sabre before you buy a sabre but then you should also try a venom and a bow as well. they are all different but have different strengths and weaknesses. Personally I love the arcs but open cell depower foils are really nice for setting up and landing and the bow kites are faster and have more depower so it's pay your money and make your choice time.

everyone on here will claim that whichever kite they bought is the best so ignore us all and fly the kites before you part with your cash

if you fly inland, in gusty(ish) conditions, or worse, dont get a sabre, they dont handle gusts at all well tbh...

get yourself down to some local flying areas and test some stuff...peple should be more than willing to give you a go..

get yourself a go on a venom, they are pretty awesome, and get yourself a go on a lei aswell...they may be debatabely harder to set up and fly some people say, but they have a boog depower(hybrid, sle or bow) and their safety systems, (if its a 5th line) are total killers, and are pretty good...

Jonny- my 9.5 sabre (also for sale) handles gusts pretty well- you must've set it up wrong or flown it set up wrong. Or maybe mine is special:)

Tbh i think the sabre is a great first dp foil-ease of set up, stability and lift for when you get jumping.

Take a look at my thread-9.5 is the best all round size. 7m is best for high winds.

EDIT: price down to 300- mmm, cheap dp foil..

the 1 is better than the 2 in the gusts, but it is underpowered for it's size..where as the 2 has shed loads more lift and power ,but doe'snt like the more aggressive gust's...the 2 is still a good kite tho - really easy to fly....and if ya like foils , then arcs may not be the way forward as they are like flying a jelly fish , and feel well strange to foil flyers, even tho they are known to handle gusts better than the other depowers...they just may take ya a while to feel comfy with the jelly fish" boing boing" thing....my point being - if you are not use to arcs's , don't expect to like em straight out of the bag.........................................................................................................................................................and you are right about the "killing system" on the sabre2's - the 5th line is power off ...and the kite falls harmlessly downwind , to the ground ,even in strong winds
