ive at this stage as well m8 ...... ive been concentrating on basically doing a pendulam jump but obviosly whilst moving on the board .

i too have been on my arse alot and wacked my head a a couple of times :(

i'm pressuming the pendulam jump is the right kinda place to be starting off ...... kite locked in at 10 o clock ish and board moving to the left , i then carve a little upwind whilst moving the kite quickly back to 2 o clock ish and jump when i feel the pull , finishing with a little redirect into the zenith to bring me down soft .

is this the kinda place your at as well ?

i'd like to know where the kite has to be so when i go up , i can continue in the opposite direction before i land .......eg ..... moving left , jump and emmidiately shoot back back to the right .

If you are going on a left tack, with the kite at 11 oclock, edge upwind hard, send kite back to 1 oclock and when you feel the lift, jump upwards. If you jump forwards the board may well come off your feet. Once at the top of your jump pull hard on your front hand to redirect it to the zenith, then on your way down continue to redirect to about 10 oclock to land with speed. Land with the board pointing slightly downwind and the carve upwind again.

basically, you want to be going along nicely in one direction comfortably powered, then you want to go up to the top right of the landboarding section and use the SEARCH function.

what mozza said basically. just keep practising your bound to fall but you always do when pushing your self. what kite are you flying as diffrent kites have diffrent styles and hence you may need to adjust how far you bring it back, when you pull in the bar ect

I tend to carve upwind and send the kite when you feel the pull really increase, bend your knees as you do it and then jump and pull the bar in as you feel the lift from the kite. Redirect the kite as you go up and ease the bar towards the kite as you spot your landing. Pull the bar back in as you land to ease the thud pick up speed and go again :D

Don't get cocky like I did.

First proper attempt with a sabre II, was going along to the left, put kite to 1 oclock, yanked the bar in, went upwards.

Managed to get myself into a frontside rotation, wasn't a lot I could do about it.

Landed on my side and back of my head, KO'd for a few mins

Thank God for crash helmets.

I'm definitely going to try again, just need some proper weather!!

Ya could do far worse than to study some of the videos on here & Check out what the rider is actually doing. You can see bar control and stance etc and learn so much from it.

Sounds like ya almost there tho :)

Where in SW are you cavey?

sounds like you might not be redirecting enough? if you land with the kite directly above you, all power will be lost when you land and you usually fall backwards.

cracking your redirection is the key, directing it enough to pull you smoothly for a soft landing and to carry on riding, but not too much to send you over the front of the board.

Yeah, sounds like you're not redirrecting enough, also it really helps to have the proper stance on the board to start with. Make sure your leading leg is almost straight and you're leaning against the kite, this will help with take off and if the take off is good, chances are the jump will be a success.

dont worry about moving up/downwind before you send the kite to start with, that'll come naturally and unless your flying underpowered (making it actually harder) you'll still get enough lift to jump.

Also try bringing your legs up while your in the air, stops you unwantedly rotating.
