msgmi Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Hey guys, Got a newbie qn here. i'm thinking of getting a kite and saw some closeout deals online, naish cult + bar for around 1000 and 2 naish cult sport + bar for 1300... what do you guys reckon i should get? i'm about 65kg and it was recommended that i get a 7 and 10.5 if i were to get the double kite package.. if i'm getting only 1 kite what kite size do you think its best for me? Cheers, Evan Quote
Goz Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Only difference between the Cult and the Cult Sport as far as I'm aware is that the Cult has the Octopus single point inflation system and the Cult Sport doesn't. For kiteboarding I reckon the 10.5 would be the go for a single quiver. Quote
JKS Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Where do you live Evan ? What are the prevailing winds like ..... Quote
.Joel Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 *AND* I think the Cult Sport is built a bit heavier, in terms of extra bumper and scuff pads as it was aimed as a school kite for students to bash the shizzle out of. I may be a bit off, but that was my main understanding of the Cult vs the Cult Sport aside from the removal of the one-pump system. Regards, .Joel Quote
msgmi Posted November 4, 2009 Author Report Posted November 4, 2009 hey thanks guys! i live in melbourne now and prob do most of my kiting in st kilda, but i will be going back to singapore for summer and the winds there are kinda weak.. yeah i know the only diff is 1 pump system + the extra padding. but from your experiences would you rather spend on the oen pump for 1 kite or top up a lil and rough it out a lil with the sports and have 2 kites? I saw someone posted on seabreeze that the 'best' beginner setup would be a 09 cult + 2010 bar cos the 09 bar has got some probs.. any comments on that? cheers! Evan Quote
.Joel Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Hi Evan, I have seen no issue with the 09 Naish bars. I'm actually a fan of multi-point inflation opposed to one-pump on any kite. Just my personal preference is to keep it simple. However this isn't always an option these days, so choose which you think is best for you. The Cult will probably fly in a little less wind due to less extra material weighing the kite down. Aside from that flight wise I doubt there is any huge difference, the Cult is a rocking kite!
