rprince Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Hi guys, got a bit of a dilemma and could do with some help. At the moment Ive got 2 Peter Lynn Venoms (13m and a 10m) and although they are fine I do have certain niggles with them, eg.heavy bar pressure which at first I liked but now its just becoming annoying and I'm finding the turning speed a little bit too slow (although better than previous arcs!). Ive also got a Litewave 136 board but the few times Ive been out seem to have got no where with kitesurfing, just up out the water for a few metres. Ive been told that the flexi atoms are good kites and Im wondering whether its worth swapping board and kites for an updated quiver and board. Im also interested in the EH kites, any new kite I get would be a bow due to learning. Any thoughts would be welcomed, do I stick with my current set up or do I change now and have a fresh go at it and if I do what board/kit would you recommend? Do I need a bigger board? Im just over 65kg so fairly light. More practice is deff needed but Im not that happy with my kit and feel that if I can try some new kit it may help make the process a bit easier. Any help would be greatly appreciated as Im really stuck as to what to do. thanks guys Quote
oc1rob Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 See if you can get to try some stuff next time you are out flying. It sounds as if you are at a similar level to me, "get going most of the time, but just cant get going enough to stay going" For me the issue is technique, but that said I have not tried water with a venom! sprogg Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 What winds are you out in? 13m Venom is a great kite for learning but even you weight it will need 20 mph to be good on water. Get lessons for a starter as it will save time and money in the end. Not heard great things about EH, atoms are meant to be OK but are rarely talked about. Quote
rprince Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 most winds been out in have been high, so used the 10m wich was ok but tbh not great. I do find the 13m pretty slow and I could do with something that has a much improved lower end, as if its not blowing almost 20mph the 13m aint a lot of fun. I have had lessons but will be looking into another one/two possibly just as a bit of a refresher. Quote
sprogg Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 I had never found the 13m slow (although for me it was a 30 mph up kite). For your weight I would suggest an 11 or even 9m Instinct but that would be the same sort of wind range so i would say try a bigger board and check out your technique. Quote
rprince Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 cool, will definetly look into it. just could do with something that can get me going in less wind, as the venoms do take a fair bit until they become fun. anyone else? all thoughts appreciated! Quote
sprogg Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Just spoke to a friend of mine who is same weight as you. His 9m Instinct sport is good from 18 mph but he is totally maxed in 30 mph Quote
rprince Posted August 4, 2008 Author Report Posted August 4, 2008 any other thoughts/opinions guys?? any help welcome! Quote
ianbeasley2338 Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 Arc's are great kites and ideal to learn with, I'm now doing unhooked stuff n loops with Synergy's Big kite weather can be easier to learn in, Progression DVD's are a great help too Quote
ianbeasley2338 Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 a couple of go's on a bigger board might help for a start but the 136 is ideal once your up n riding Are you putting enough power on with the trimmer, you need more power than landboarding Quote
