popeyethewelder Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 The other day I went to use paypal as I have done hundreds of times, only this time it asked for conformation of my payment methods. I used to use a credit card and a Debit card, but seeing as I now never use the credit card only gave the details of my debit card. Almost immediatley, it said my paypal account had been blocked, meaning I can now no longer use it. I have looked for a phone number and couldn't find one, although a friend found one and gave it to me, I rang only to hear the number no longer exists. I have sent emails explaining everything that I had done and asked them to sort the problem out....nicely of course, but I have had no replies. Has anyone got any ideas on how to help me here...? Thanks Carl Quote

kiter_ryan Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Arn't Paypal and eBay the same company now? Could try getting to them through eBay head office, and asking to be put through? Just a thought, and hope you get it sorted quickly. Paypal are cretins when things go wrong! Ryan Quote

popeyethewelder Posted July 19, 2008 Author Report Posted July 19, 2008 Can I just make a new account...is that possible, it might be the easiest way Quote
Absolut Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 Can I just make a new account...is that possible, it might be the easiest way Not if you want to use the same cards / bank details cos it'll just tell you the cards are used by another account. Having the same trouble myself - forgot my password and everything on the account, except the card, are no longer valid - old email address, old bank details and old house details - so therefore i cant get the password sent to me cos i cant verify the other details!! And if they email the password, it goes to the inactive email address!! Tried to open another account, but cant cos the other one still has the card attached to it!! Quote
Taunton Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 I just came into the bar zone to have a moan about paypal, so hope you won't mind me joining in pops :-) Ebay item bought and paid for by me via paypal, item doesnt turn up, buyers done a few dodgy deals in a short space of time and ebay notifies me that theyve kicked him out and to contact paypal for a refund under their buyer protection. Just got this in an email this morning; After careful review, we have concluded our investigation of the Buyer Complaint described below. We have decided in your favour, however, we were unable to recover any funds from the seller's account. As stated in the PayPal User Agreement, recovery of funds associated with a Buyer Complaint cannot be guaranteed. Erm, I thought thats why we paid via pypal, to have that protection. If the sellers not going to allow funds to be taken out his account (there's a surprise) then whats the point Quote
popeyethewelder Posted July 19, 2008 Author Report Posted July 19, 2008 Hmmm that stinks Taunton....its more of an inconvenience really in my case as I had some funds in there, plus most people want paypal... Quote
Rushmore Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 man, I hate Paypal. only use it a few times... Cheque or Direct transfer are the best ways Quote
LincolnImp Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 I'd abandon any hope of speaking to someone! There are only about 3 people who work on the phones. The only chance you will get to speak to someone at ebay/ paypal is if you are a powerseller Quote
daltocsII Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 I had an absolute nightmare with them too, the only way I got to speak to someone was calling their office in Ireland. I can't remember or findthe number but try any of these: 08707/ 307 191 (UK Calling Rates Apply) 0870/730-7191 (UK Calling Rates Apply) 0208/ 6053000 (Landline Phone Number) 020/8605 3001 (UK FAX -- UK Calling Rates Apply) Quote
gazxtreme Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 I had a lot of trouble with paypal, sent me invoice after invoice for sellers fees and I hadn't sold anything for months. They got a credit control company involved who told me the only way to stop the bayliffs was to report the incident to the police to get a case number, call them back, they contact paypal to inform them about the initiation of a fraud case, paypal then stop the proceedings against you. Did I get an apology and my paypal account opened again?? did I sh*te. "Paypal, you are corrupt and soon the government will find this out and take you to the cleaners" I HOPE. Quote
