    Flexifoil Viper

Having recently acquired a second-hand viper I patiently waited for wind in the evenings after work. After a week of waiting the autumnal breeze finally arrived and the kite saw its first action under my control... Now, having only flown an agile 2.5m² Sting and thinking that it offered plenty of pull on top of being quick and nimble, the Viper was a surprise! I'm 6'2" and over 16 stone but that didn't stop me being lifted off me feet and dragged forwards in a kind of 'skimming-run' as the kite reached the centre of the wind-window. This kite really pulls. I'd liken it to a tractor; slow and cumbersome yet very powerful indeed. I'd not want to use the kite in winds above 15mph because I find it hard to control... perhaps due to my inexperience or extremely fatigued arms, but still it just doesn't do what it's told! I have a feeling that one side of bridles may not be adjusted correctly as it usually spins-out in one direction (and no, I don't have one arm longer than the other!!) As far as build quality goes, it's robust. I received the kite in good condition (although a bit grubby) in it's own black over-sized rucksack (actually - I can fit my Sting and a 500ml bottle of water in too without difficulty), padded handles and 4 lines. No kite-killers but I pinched them from my Sting for safety-sake. The Viper certainly looks impressive due to its size. Flown next to a smaller kite it lacks agility but has its own sort of elegance and grace through the sky. From reading another review of this kite (different website) there were comments that the flaps at the wingtips made lots of noise - I didn't encounter that problem. All in all, it's a slow but demanding brute of a kite. An excellent workout to be treated with caution or it'll put your face in the grass. Next on the shopping list will be something between the Sting and Viper... maybe a 4-5m Bullet By : leo_
  2. Build quality: Excellent. I've thrown it about and crashed it but the workmanship is very good indeed. It has dyneema lines which are terrifically strong so no worries about stretching, etc. Flying characteristics: Quite fast through the air. A bit like a HInda VTEC engine (which needs high revs to explode to life), the Super 10 gets quite frisky in 15 mph winds. Any less and I find it is a nice, relaxing kite to fly. The turning is superb and it makes a nice whirring sound as it scythes through the air. Stability: Very good indeed. The kite is very manouverable in winds above 10mph but doesn't really fly in very light winds (perhaps because it has a spar). Best use of the kite: You'd be hard pressed to get buggying out of it, or indeed landboarding. It's best recommended for satic flying in the park or on the beach where you might get some scudding. I'm 14 stones and it pushes me about a bit in winds above 15mph. Value for money: I bought mine on sale for £80 at airborn kites in Brighton. Terrific value. Packaging: Comes in a nice, neat bag. I got my wife to sew handles onto the back so that I can swing it over my back. It comes with padded handles, lines and spars. Everything you need to go flying right out of the box, so to speak. Conclusion: An excellent 2 line starter kite for static flying. I suspect you won't achieve much (if any) lift in this unless you weigh less than 9 stones! So if you're after traction activities like landboarding and buggying, etc, I'd say by something bigger. However, if you're after a kite which is easily packaged for beach and the park, there is probably nothing better. I'm so impressed by Flexifoil build quality that I'm investigating their range of traction kites. By : MrKDeluxe

    Flexifoil Super 10

One of my first kites, I got a yellow one, which for some reason is cheaper than some of the other colours in the range. Good solid construction and a great kite for beginners, ripstop nylon body and a leading edge spar made from carbon fibre and fibre-glass end pieces. Extremely easy to set up with 300lb flying lines, 8mph upwards are the wind recommendations, it will fly in less but not much and it can be a bit of a pig to launch, especially on grass. Once airborne this kite is a joy to fly, it resembles a klingon bird of prey in the air and makes a pleasing roar as it cuts through the wind, really fast and responsive, with a fair amount of pull. You can stack as many as you dare, which is a nice idea. Only really a recreational/scudding kite, as it has no brakes, but I guess if you were insane, you could try to use a board or buggy, I wouldn't advise trying it though. I got mine for a little over £100 so I think this is great value for money. I have broken a couple of the end spars, but they're only about £6 to replace. Overall I would advise anyone who's interested in the sport to give this kite a go, especially if you're a bit worried about using four lines. By : DoktAphex

    Flexifoil Bullet

The kite came from kiteworld .com well packaged and excellent service (delivered as a present) on opening the box the kite was in the flexifoil ruck sack which is typically well made. Taken out of the pack and checked for any faults none found so we are off to a good start with everything looking good and were its supposed to be and well put together I got the kite earlier this week and couldn't wait to try it. So along comes Saturday and off to Lytham st annes we go it take 10 -15 minute to set up the kite and as it says on the tin it leaps into the sky taking me with it as I hadn't dialled in the brakes properly. So down she come and we reset the brakes and try again ant this time we off and now get completely monstered as im not used to this kind of fluid power that the bullet gives unlike the PKD that ihave previously flown (which for the money is excellent). That tend to be a little snatchy and has a tendency to throw you into the air and dump you in a painful heap on the floor with the bullet when it does loft you it carries you and the allows you to walk right out in a dignified and easy manner so it is far more predictable and speaking from experience nowhere near as sore later. They also say it turns on a wing tip unfortunately I have not been able to test this as the wind conditions were a little on the strong side for me but Ill find out int the not to distant future. The kite has absolute bucket loads of power and proceeded to drag first me and then my mate Shane all over the beach with my son looking on green with envy and wanting to have a go as well but I had to refuse his pleas as my wife would kill me slow with a smile on her face if he got hurt anyway we proceeded to take a very severe punishing and enjoyable lesson in what its like to fly a professional quallity kite. The kite is an absolute joy to fly and I am looking forward to flying it as often as possible and as for the cost the only one upset by that was my wife who thinks flying kites is not somthing done by sensible adults (so who wants to be sensible) so great value for money By : blue max
