    Radsail Radsail Harness

Just a friendly note, this review will be cleaned up soon :)

Well, I bought a Radsail harness last year but didn't use it much at all as I had a Quadrifoil one that I preferred. However, after a bad fall on the buckle of the Quadrifoil I decided to use the Radsail harness for static flying and buggying.

I had heard that the quality was poor, but when I used it I was actually happy enough, lots of adjustments, spreader bar wrapped nicely in neoprene, clips on leg straps covered in neoprene so that they wouldn't nip.

Problem was, I had used it 3 times when the leg strap ripped out of the body of the harness, and that was when buggying in 15mph wind, so hardly extreme use.

On close inspection, the leg strap had been held in place with a single line of stitching, but perhaps surprisingly, it wasn't the stitching that had ripped, it was the material of the harness itself.

I discussed this with the retailer who asked for the harness to be returned and then agreed to credit me with the money I had spent on the harness.

    Lessons learnt?

    1. Always research purchases properly- in retrospect there were quite a few postings about how poor the quality of the Radsail harness was and how it had failed for others in the past (unfortunately no reviews on here though).

    2. Sometimes you need to pay a bit more to get the quality you want, and from my experience harnesses are a case in point.

    3. When your purchase doesn't live up to your expectations, it is always worth approaching the retailer that you bought it from. They have a responsibility to sell goods "fit for purpose" and may be keen to sort out problems as in this case.

Thanks for the review. In the market for a harness at the moment and am now happy to steer well clear and avoid the budget option :)

Cheap - yes, but mine has lasted SO far. Been using it since last November (7 months) and nothing has gone wrong and it does the job for me.

i think the harrness is an overlooked peice of equipment, you wouldn't want it breaking mid flight would you!!! Dakine are great but pricey, i use maui magic and cant fault them.

I haven't heard of these material tears before. But Radsails does sell a harness specific for buggy use. Maybe angle of pull against the thong? (lol) A Dakine harnesses while superior in build quality have sizes. The Radsail's one size fits all so you can pass along to your buddy regardless of waist size which is great. It does really come down to convenience in the end. If you want to introduce a group of friends to power kitting, then the Radsail harness is the way to go. If your going at this sport solo, you have no need for re-adjustments, so get a Dakine in your size.
