Well here goes,
I bought a 3.5 Triboard from Decathalon on a whim which I thoroughly enjoy flying but at 21 stone it lacks the umph for me to scud etc.
so I decided to invest in something larger. I read whatever I could about peter lynn, flexfoil and the like and then stumbled across the pansh name.
Being a novice who will probably hurt myself & pack it up I was attracted by the price of the pansh which was positivley disposable compared to the more popular brands.
As the price appeared to be too good to be true I decided to trawl the internet to find out everything I could about pansh. My findings revealed five things:
1) Everybody thought they would be rubbish because of the price
2) Nobody was prepared to take the plunge incase their mates laughed at their £1.99 kite
3) Everybody who had ordered one had received them in good time
4) Pansh had listened to feedback and improved their product accordingly
5) On the whole no one could fault the way they fly.
So on balance it all seemed fairly positive so I took the plunge & bought a 5.5m Legend.
Transaction went smoothly & 6 days later a small parcel arrived which looked like an A4 folder but contained five & a half square meters of ripstop, handles & lines.
took the kite straight to the local rec after work but was dissapointed to find about 1mph of wind (sods law!!). Never mind, good oportunity to set the beggar up & have a look.
Bridals where fine, lines where a bit thick for my liking but seemed to be pre stretched. Handles are pants, cheap & cheerful and whilst I know I only paid £10/m2 for it why is it that the handles are the only bit that looks cheap?. Set it up no problem & decided to take half a dozen paces at speed to see what kind of shape it was and bugger me it took of & flew to the zenith in what can only be described as a sparrow fart of wind. Grinning like an idiot I packed away and waited for lunch time today (24/10/06) to give it a blast in what was probably 6-10mph.
Now my 3.5m triboard has been fantastic to learn with but is a bit prone to overflying & lufting in gusty wind. The legend was a revelation. It seemed to be alot more stable and shrugged off gusts where the 3.5 would have a fit. I am sure there are technical names for all that but I'm a newbee to all this. Also the power seemed much more constant regardless of the forward speed of the kite.
I will continue to post my findings as I use the kite more but my first impressions have been nothing but excellent. I am yet to fly a peter lynn or flexifoil but, given my limited ability I cannot see how anything could be twice as good as this let alone 5 times as rthe price suggests.
My reccomendation to anyone wanting to dabble in traction kiting is to go for the Pansh.
Good at any money
Superb at £10/m2!!!
