    HQ Beamer II

    Introduction
Hi I'm an enthusiastic kite flyer... my friends think I'm too enthusiastic.

I live in Nottingham so I dont get many place to kite that have clean wind. Remember this as I write my review.

    General Stuff
The kite comes with handles(with safety kite-killers) and lines in a flashy, durable rucksack with a big zip on the front. There is a manual that explains how to set up and use basic skills such as launching and landing.

The Foil The foil is light, probably not as light as some kites but still light. As for strength well, my brother and I were untangling lines with the kite layed out behind us when the kite was stolen by my brother's "friends" the kite was wrapped around one of them and even with them pulling at it, rolling around in it and generally doing things that would rip it did my kite rip NO-SIR-EE!

    The Control Gear
The handles are of good quality just as everything else in the package but I have had a bad experience with HQ kite-killers and that bad experience is that they snap. LOTS. If I were not saving for a bigger kite I would definitly splash out on some fancy flexifoil ones. instead my friend (who also has a beamer) replaced mine that snapped because he doesn't wear his (too uncomfortable). My brother has bought some flexi ones because both his snapped!

Anyway the handles are of good quality but you might want to buy some gloves to stop rubbing of the lines (especially in winter).

    Flying The Kite
The Beamer is a reliable kite. It rarely stalls but sometimes does go over your head a bit too far. This kite is brilliant to control. The brake lines work well.

In lumpy winds this kite relays all of those bumps back to the flyer. Not dangerous but it does get annoying. The Beamer does not have excessive lift but you can still jump with it in high enough winds.

    Other Activities
Landboarding with this kite isn't brilliant but if you just want basic movement it will do the job. Ideal to learn movement with before going onto a bigger kite.

I haven't used this kite for buggying but I imagine it wouldn't be a bad kite for it.

    Conclusion
This kite is awesome for what you pay. HQ certainly know their stuff when it comes to value for money. This kite is a tottaly AWESOME kite to learn on, be it recreational, landboarding or buggying. This kite is a kite that you can learn on with ease but it should never leave you.

I would rate thhis kite 7/10 in it's field

Sorry I forgot to say that I enjoy using the Beamer and that when you review things you tend to pick out the bad points. The kite is an excellent all-rounder

It's true what he says about the strength of the foil My friends really were wrapping it round each other and rolling about in it - no damage to the bridle or foil HQ kite killers are rubbish though Good review

I've also had troubles with HQ kite killers but I have since realise why. The kite killers i had were attached to the brake leaders on the handles this meant that when realised there was no enough travel to completely depower the kite. Since moving the kite killer to attach to the brake lines themselves i have had no problems. Agree with what is said about this kite had a great blast around with it yesterday on my board no jumps but working on reverts and turning 180 quickly on rear wheels.

As a 3.6 owner I would echo all that you have said in your review, right down to the kite killers. Between them the Beamer and the Buster must be responsible for getting the majority of people into soft foils, and they should be applauded for it. My Beamer is still an integral part of my quiver of 2, it provides brilliant medium speed cruising sessions in high winds on those days when you just want to chill and not go too hard. Great review, although if someone treated any of my equipment like that they wouldn't live to tell the tale!
