    HQ Beamer 3.6M

I bought this kite for 2 main reasons.Firstly, after kitelandbording for 2 years I fancied a change in direction and bought a peter lynn buggy.Secondly,I have a blade 3-3m which was starting to drive me mad and in no way would be suitable for buggy use due to it being "too aggressive in the lift department".So it was time for a new but cheap 3/4 m kite.I tried a 5m beamer which knocked the socks off my 5m quadrifoil Q and so bought the 3.6 at a really low price!!!.

I have now had it over 2 months and it just gets better.I would call myself an intermeadiate/advanced boarder and beginner buggy pilot.

The build quality is very high and will take a good bashing, the lines were perfect with no adjustment or checking needed. They have not stretched yet as I have just checked them. The bag is good with useful pockets etc.I like the handles provided but they can feel a little heavy after 3/4hrs use-but no complaints here generally-its a £120 kite so what do you expect!

Flying-I have flown this kite plenty over the last 2 months in winds from 6mph to 25/30mph.I can get going on my board from about 8mph-ideal winds for this kite I would say are from 8-18mph in which it just performs so well.

It handles gusts really well!!.What I love about it is that it is very smooth and predictable. In fact it being so predictable allows me to fly it in slightly higher winds as I know it won't have any nasty characteristics (like the blade3-taking you upwards). The power is really smooth and the kite performs really well in all parts of the window. You never tend to feel "overpowered" or out of control even in really high winds-but this is not to say the power isn't there if you need it.

Last saturday I done my first mile run in my buggy at saunton sands with the beamer(12-15mph)-it was a joy-the kite just locked in!!!!.On the board it is great-I went out in a 25mph at porthcawl and was just touching it in the power zone and I was flying along-circa20/30 mph!!!!why pay more for a kite as this easily rivals more expensive in performance. It will give wicked air as I found out thru my foolishness in launching it in the window in a 20mph-nice and floaty on landing!!!.

I can only say that this kite has surpassed my expectations and I am thinking of selling my quiver and replacing it with some of the sizes!!!!

I have a beamer 2.5(bags of laughs in high winds - v fast and furious) and have just given a 3.6 to my brother-in-law as a present. Set the kite up for him and it is a dream to fly. Loads of power on tap. Impressed by build and flight quality. I also tested a 5m courtesy of Andy at Prokites and that is blindingly good fun, extremely stable. Ask why I bought a RadPro 6m off Andy? Good value and buckets of fun - just fancied flying something big and in a blow wow mega fun!!!! Give Andy a ring wealth of info on tap there. Very helpful.

Have a 5.0, trying to decide on a smaller foil, 1.8 or possibly a 2.5. Thank you for a very helpful review.

I have the 3.6 beamer, only thing was i had a few problems with the bridle. good thig was i got it sorted in one way or another (ask no questions) i have been flying the foil for a few months and hav taken it to my max when static flying. who said i wouldnt get air with my 17st. well i have the photos to prove them wrong, ok i was in 28mph winds with max gusts of 31mph. looking down from 12ft up it looks a long way, the landing was well floaty, so much so i spent an hour or so trying to get higher.lol. i knew about it next day though as my stomache muscles were well hurting and it took a week before i tryied again, even then they hurt for 3 weeks.lol. love flying the 3.6 as it will handle all i have chucked at it and more. some of the blade/bullet fliers that have had a go dont like it as you need to keep tention on the mains at all times, if you slacken off the foil will fold, plus you have to fly it down on brakes and not just pull both brake like others but it is teaching me the control, where as a something like the radsail you can just pile on the brakes and the foil lands. loving it so much im looking for a second hand 5m as the pockets are empty so a new one will not happen. Phil.

Popped into a great kite store down the Portobello Road over the last weekend and ended up coming out with a 5m Beamer. I can't wait to try it out. The guys in the shop were more than helpful and made my purchase enjoyable and funnily enough, exciting. Thanks for the reviews.

I got both the 3.6 and the 5 mtrs, the 3.6 gets the most air time as the winds here in Miami tend to be on the strongish side so the 5 gets used by me when the wind drops bellow 10 mph. I only do 'static' flying...lol. on the minus side and this is only a quibble, the qualty of construction of the bags SUCK. both of my bags fell appart and I had to re-stich most of the seams.I bought both kites 2 years ago.bucketsfull of fun!! ---Oscar1

My 3.6 flies like a diesel truck! The wind has to be at least 10mph to have any fun with it at all. Below 10 and it's more trouble than it's worth. I wish I'd spent a little more and gotten a crossfire. Nosediver

hey, nice review. im thinking of getting a beamer but am not sure weather to get 3.6 or 5.0. will the 3.6 have enough pull for good scuds and small jumps? im about 5ft 4 and about 8stone.

great review!!! You must work for HQ, I'm off to find meself a 3.6 Beamer, after taking lots of pro advise, decided to check the owner/user reviews. The 3.6 Beamer seems to be the one to have, cheap, well built, powerful, fun and controlable, or at worst at least it's got kite killers!

I have a beamer 3.6 and love it but for my next like am looking at others as general comments about beamers is that they collapse easy in lighter winds which is my experience too.
