Hi,
I learnt to Kitesurf last year and got a few sessions in before decided it was getting a bit nippy. Anyway I want to get back in the water this month. But seem to be getting a lot of Northerly winds.
Can anyone recommend a good kiting beach In the south East that I can kitesurf on during these northerlies?(without it blowing offshore cos upwind hasn't been mastered yet )
Hi, I am helping a friend choose his first power kite. Could anyone recommend a good kite that will be used in the following way?:
1) On beach in South of France - often 30mph windspeeds.
2) Back in UK over summer - so not too bad with lower windspeeds
3) Can be used for scudding and small jumps (2 - 3 feet).
4) Not be liable to get overpowered and out of control
5) Heavyweight rider (100kg)
6) less than £300
I've looked at the Bullet and Samuria? do you reckon I'm on the right track? if so what sizes? if not what others?
Thanks very much
I mis-aligned my Pelvis bone, during a particularly rubbish 360 attempt.
These Physiotherapists aren't cheap either so its definately worth avoiding injury!
I started out landboarding because it was cheaper to get into, have since saved up enough to start Kitesurfing but have not given up landboarding. For me i'm not too bothered what i am sitting/standing on - Kiting is awsome, its fast and you can jump high those qualities are the same whatever- what more do you need?
I know there are inherent differences between the various disciplines but I think that is what makes the whole group of sports so great. Personally I hope people keep thinking about more varied ways of being pulled on a kite. Though I think Kite wheely binning can be ruled out now.
P.S. sorry if I caused any offence to any Kite Wheely Binners out there
Well I bought a 03/04 model about 6-9 Months ago from Whitsable Windsurfing, was 2nd hand but as good as new, with a North Shore board bag. - I paid £250.
As you say, brilliant board to learn with though.
I don't think £200 is unreasonable.
I've got a pair of Onfire Combats which are awsome, they just never wear out despite endless dragging!
Then I bought some waterproof overtrousers to put on when its wet, Can't remember how much but they were dirt cheap. Plus you can peel them off and drive home without dirtying your car!
I usually ride Goofy with Snowboards, Wakeboards etc, its weird It doesn't seem to make much odds to me on a kite though. - But then who am I? - I can't even ride toeside!
Anyway - cheers for help - I will try all of that next time i'm out!
No - I'm generally not on a harness, I do have one though, I suppose this might be a good time to use it - do you think it makes much odds?
I see what you mean by leaning over. And by looking at that picture there is a lot of twisting in the hips. I think I had it all wrong in my head. Sort of imagining it exactly 180 from normal riding!
Very helpful though - cheers for everyone's help
Hi, I am wondering if people can help me..
I have been Kiteboarding for about 2 and a half years now and go out when I can ( which seems to be never at the moment cos its always dark after work:( )
Anyway - I am keen to ride toeside but never really get very far with it.
I am currently flying a 5.5 m2 Elliot kite which does the job for me for now. However it seems when I go toeside like i'm trying to fly the kite with my back to it. I am currently using handles. I guess it would be easier with a bar, but are there any Toeside / Handle tips I should know about?
Cheers for you help!
