  1. MY first kite was a 2.6m Skytiger. I think you need to start on something under 3m. I've only just bought a Blade 4.9m. Starting on something that big would be suicidal. Or if you've got loadsa money I recommend something between 2-3m and a 4.9m. I still don't tire of my 2.6m. Doesn't give me air, but can pull in the right winds - it's kept me happy for a few years!
  2. Got a friend who's just got into Kitesurfing. And she's loving it!! She's from Bournemouth and heads over to Whitley Bay. I'll find out some more info for you...
  3. Thanks Tony - that's the kind of advice I'm after. Always welcoming comments on how to fly better. I've been in a lower league until now. With the delivery of the BIII 4.9m I'm going to have another learning path to fly down. Cheers dude!
  4. Tks dude. Does this kite pull you at and angle, or pretty much straight up. Am obivously getting excited about getting this kite out - but would like to know what to expect. I hear it's more of a lifter than a lateral puller.
  5. Hi, Been flying my 2.6m Skytiger for a few years now. Finally getting round to getting a BIII 4.9m. What kind of winds should I try the new kite in to start me off. As mentioned in a previous thread, the Skytiger did pull me around a bit - never up in the air, mainly horizontal. Do I expect the Blade to emit more power, but slower and more vertical? Tks.
  6. Would definitely want to know where that place near Brockenhurst is. I've flown kites in the forest before and found the winds chop and change direction quite quickly - they didn't seem as consistent as the wind off Hengistbury. Although Hengistbury should be ideal - all the bloody dog owners still continue to let their pets crap all over the place. It can be quite minging in the winter. In the summer it isn't too bad though. I guess because more people are around people make a conscious effort to clean up after them. Are any of the parks any good round here. King's Park, Queen's Park etc? Cheers dude
  7. These gusts that everyone talks about. Why do people say watch out for them? Surely if you've noticed there's a gust there's a likely chance you're already caught up in it?
  8. 4m better for me then?
  9. Is there a major difference between the 4m and the 4.9m. I've heard that the bigger the kite, the slower in the air it is - does that necessarily translate to comfortability in the air? I've heard stories (mainly in these forums) or people reaching for the sky and totally wiping out. I'm not really into that...3/4 feet is cool for me!
  10. Dudes - really need some advice. A bit more info about what I'm after. I tend to kite of a fresh wind at Hengistbury Head in Bournemouth. However, have noticed that summer winds can be a little "inactive" and consequently boring. My Skytiger tends to pull me horizontally - I'm after something that can pull me vertically, but not freak me out. (If I want to paraglide, I'll buy a paraglider!) Besides, I'm sh!t scared of heights anyway! Seen a couple of guys floating 4/5 feet off the ground - now that's what I'm after. 14 stone and 6 foot tall....now, whatdathink. 4.9 or 4m Blade. Or are there other kites that'll give me as much fun? Cheers.
  11. hmm. am having similar thoughts. But I dunno about 4 or 4.9 m Blade III.
  12. Anyone got one of these monsters in Bournemouth. Really considering buying one - but wouldn't mind trying someone elses first (if not minded!!) Cheers dudes!!
  13. Hi, don't want to frighten myself silly. However, I don't want to spend a lot of money only to find that I could've gone bigger. I've currently got a 2.6m skytiger. This in itself can pull me around on windy days. Besides, I think there may be a 3.5m restriction in Hengistbury Head..hmm. I guess either way I screwed there! What are your thoughts. I guess a few of you have faced this decision at some point in time. What did you go for. Any regrets?? Cheers dudes...
