Just to let you guys know , the car park at aber will be closed from 12 May for 14 weeks. There will be no where to park that end of the beach as the road has yellow lines. They are building a new car park , god only knows why they would do that over the whole summer , I've put pics on the blast forum if you want to see plan and get phone number

There is NO longer a car park at Aber at the Kite area. The old car park has just been barriered off today. Construction of the latest care home has started and is expected to last 57 weeks the council have also added yellow lines to the road so no parking 10am till 8pm 1 aptil - sept I have been on site this morning , the builders are making a small temporary car park just past the bus shelter with room for about 10 cars. That is due to be done Monday next week. There is no sign of a start to building the proper replacement car park. If you use this beach now is the time to speak to the council. will post details later after i have spoken to them http://i69.servimg.com/u/f69/13/90/38/93/img_0111.jpg http://i69.servimg.com/u/f69/13/90/38/93/img_0112.jpg

Hi Im Alun , I am sec of the SWWKC (south and west wales kitesurf club) We were as surprised as you guys were with the developments at Aber. I know both Marc and Sarah of Blast and Ben of Southwales Kitesurfing and I dont think they remotely want a members only / club beach either. They are just listed as they are two the the BKSA approved / recognised schools in the area. In the past we have campaigned hard behind the scenes relating to access at aber for ALL We have good relations with the Surf lifesaving Club and the RNLI at the beach. You may not have even heard of the club as we keep a very low profile. We believe the same things as you. We dont want members only beaches , we dont want red tape and we don't want to poke our collective heads over the councils parapit ! We are lucky at Aber, there are many places where the council will just say no. We have a nice flagged area, Warnings on the beach info signs and fairly clear signeage relating to kite activities. At the moment the only issue I know we have on the Horizon is the loss of the rough car park. We have been liaising with the council and making suggestions re a replacement car park. If you remember I asked for people to email about the proposed height restriction of 2m . That was a fight we won! Lets all work together. If you have any land based issues , PM me here and I can rasie them with the club. In addition there will be an EGM of the club next week after the Blast fronzen Jam at rest bay. Feel free to come along or PM me with any issues you think we have in the South Wales Area.

The Pyro pro is a great suit and lasts well. expect to replace the seals if you get ANY oil on them at all. Becareful where you leave it as I have an oil fired boiler , the fumes from that were enough to rot the latex. I currently have a Mystic dry force and thats pretty good too and looks a lot better than the pyro. Be ready for your mates to take the piss they will (in the mystic it happends less as its looks less bulky. Many Many people perpetuate a few myths, one hole and you drown, Nope its like being cling filmed when you are in the water even if you slashed a couple centemeter hole water would seep in, even if full water is neuteral bouyancy so makes it hard to swim but wont drown you . The most important thing you need which is always overlooked is a decent base layer. putting normal cloths , shorts tee shirts etc on underneat will make you cold and reduce your mobility. Invest in a Proper wicking base like the fouth element ones. If you dont you are wasteing your investment.

I remember the 80s and 90s the big corps have not learnt anything . The likes of Neil Pryde (Cabrinha) , North Sails and Naish made windsurfing way to expensive. Oh you want to use our sails then you will need a new mast for each one and a boom ... Eventually they woke up but by then the likes of Gun and other lower cost brands had made the sport more affordable but the numbers participating had dwindled and Windsufing pretty much dissapperaed round here. Its a shame to see the big brands at it again
