Alright I will stick my neck out.......I am an IKO Instructor and won't be renewing. Yes it is a way for them to make money, but the infrastructure is small and the rules are not specific enough. I was hoping to learn something new, but my 15+ years of kiting experience meant that I was safer than they are! I learnt nothing new about teaching, nothing kite specific and my views on safety were stronger than theirs!
If you know scube diving, then I am also a PADI instructor. PADI is much better set up with better materials than IKO, but it also is a marketing machine. PADI I stay with, IKO I won't.
Maybe in a few years IKO will be worth it, but right now I don't believe it is. Only if you want to work with a shop would I recommend anyone doing it.
I am sure others will have completely different views, but experience of kites counts more than a piece of paper from IKO, in my opinion.
